  1. I would love to have been a script girl in 20's Hollywood, with a bungalow in town for work and a cottage in Santa Catalina for leisure.. Rudolph Valentino would visit and I'd make him fresh squeezed o.j. from my groves.
  2. I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING (living in Scotland with my true love Roger Livesy, the laird) METROPOLITAN (I want to be a Whit Stillman New York socialite) THE WORLD OF HENRY ORIENT (Manhattan playground, sophisticated yet cozy) ANNE OF GREEN GABLES (the house, the countryside, Gilbert Blythe) MY DINNER WITH ANDRE (I could listen to him forever, and have great meals) MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE (I'd even take their tiny apartment) THE COMANCHEROS (living with Stuart Whitman on a ranch; Duke comes to visit) NANCY DREW, DETECTIVE (I solve all the mysteries in my snug hometown) HOME, SWEET HOMICIDE (mother writes mysteries, marries Randolph Scott) Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
  3. I've never heard of this but I love Dan Duryea. (what true film buff doesn't?)
  4. Strange. I posted a little review of THE UNEARTHLY, but it didn't "take". So, again: As I was saying before it disappeared, I've seen worse. This is the movie where Tor Johnson utters his famous line, "Time for go to bed". In spots this reminded me of the French EYES WITHOUT A FACE, filmed a few years later. Despite plodding direction and a general Monogram-ish air of monotony (this does bring to mind that revered studio). there are some unexpected twists, including a finale in the basement that might remind you of ISLAND OF LOST SOULS. Carradine's mad scientist, although equipped with the necessary good manners to divert his "guests", is naturally impatient to hurry along his experiments in glandular research, aided by his female assistant who happens to be in love with him and is jealous of his next gorgeous guinea pig, the spectacular, smoldering Allison Hayes. There is a Tony Franciosa look and (over)act-a-like among the doctor's patients who seems to be auditioning for another movie. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
  5. HAHAHAHA. Teach a course in horror and sci-fi movies. Just finished THE UNEARTHLY. So THIS is the movie with the famous Tor Johnson line "Time for go to bed". I've seen worse. Although direction is plodding, this actually reminded me in spots of the French EYES WITHOUT A FACE, filmed about five years later. and there's a finale that might remind you of THE ISLAND OF LOST SOULS. A few other unexpected twists are uplifting, despite the Monogram-ish air of monotony that hovers about. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
  6. Nice photo of Burt at the piano. Little Sheba will have to stand in line. Which is worse, dying an old maid or marrying Sheriff File?
  7. Thanks so much! I'm going to watch all of THE UNEARTHLY now on YouTube! I've never seen it, oh, joy!
  8. Now that I think about it, Tor didn't make a lot of movies. So he should be Star of the Week. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
  9. I guess if Babs knew the perfume's name, she'd tell him, duh. Must be time for me to make some coffee, my brain cells are lagging.
  10. Yep. And we need to see more of John on TCM, like CAPTIVE WILD WOMAN, BLUEBEARD, and many, many others in the horror and sci-fi genres he did.
  11. And I always remember Robin in TZ's The Howling Man, as you-know-who. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
  12. What is it with these aliens, they're so randy. Mel Welles too in ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS talks about running amok with the ladies. Although how he can do that inside a giant crab is beyond me. Ah yes, Morris Ankrum and Tom Browne Henry. Wasn't Tom in THE THING THAT COULDN'T DIE?
  13. Sorry to hear about your parents' relationship. I know this isn't the noir thread, but I'm wondering what the perfume is that Fred likes on Barbara in DOUBLE INDEMNITY. She tells him she "bought it in Encinada".
  14. She unsettingly looks like Bogie's battlin' wife Mayo Methot.
  15. A long way from Shirley and Pappy: http://youtube.com/watch?v=2awT3ikqjTY (although this looks interesting) Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
  16. Doesn't the brain have sexy Charles Boyer eyes? Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
  17. Here's some cute eyes flyin' around: http://youtube.com/watch?v=CtiolWrhiWU&feature=related
  18. Everyone -- SEE WHAT YOU'RE MISSING!!!! If you're all SICK of the upteenth showing of,say, BORN YESTERDAY -- we MUST lobby for THE ASTOUNDING SHE-MONSTER!! Wouldn't you rather see her than Billie Dawn??
  19. I will not rest until THE BOWERY BOYS MEETS THE MONSTERS takes its rightful place in the TCM pantheon! I will fight for MAN MADE MONSTER and WEIRD WOMAN! It is a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and THE ASTOUNDING SHE-MONSTER. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
  20. Can't wait to see SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON tomorrow. I saw some of LITTLE BIG MAN. Entertaining. I liked Chief Dan George, and this must be Dustin Hoffman's least-annoying performance.
  21. Whoa! LOVE that gorgeous close up of Duke in FORT APACHE!
