http://www.horror-wood.com/whitman.htm This was quite a surprise for me. I'm just beginning to appreciate him (after seeing THE COMANCHEROS) but didn't know the extent of his work in this genre. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48

Baby Doll (1956) - THE MOST VULGAR "CODE" FILM
Bronxgirl48 replied to Metropolisforever's topic in General Discussions
I always thought this was an (intentional) comedy by Williams; it had a lot of funny moments. And this is the only film where I thought Eli Wallach looked sexy. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48 -
Hi, sc, I did find that info when I was checking out the imdb board on Stuart; thanks for thinking of me. And I found a "Shock Films of Stuart Whitman" while searcing the web! (see the Horror thread) Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48

I think I better move back to New York or Chicago, then I can go to all these big city film festivals. Nothin' goin' on here of that sort in Florida.

I can see a bit of Tammy in her, but to me she looks more like Christopher.

Nah, he'd be a real broken man after she got finished with him. I'll just stay in dreamland with his movies and photos, I guess. Other factoids I just found out that blew my mind: He and Warren Beatty saw UFOs over New York during the 60's blackout. The screen's first interracial kiss occurred between him and Dorothy Dandridge in the 1958 THE DECKS RAN RED. He was good friends with David Janssen and was with him at his death. He dated Carol Lynley.

I can't compete with a Russian submarine captain's daughter who desperately wants to succeed in America and marries an 80 year old multi-millionaire movie star so she can achieve her dreams. . She'd probably rip up my birthday card before Stuart ever SEES it. I'm telling you, that partnership is DOOMED. Whitman is in good health and could live another 10 years. She won't wait that long; she'll stay for another year or two, then file for divorce and demand half of his fortune. I'll console myself with those 14 photos. I had to take a few cold showers after viewing the beefcake ones.

LOL, that's her.

John Ritter was the best thing about that show. I always felt sorry for Mrs. Roper. I still stay the beast is GREED. Speaking of which, check out von Stroheim's masterpiece. -

Thanks, sc, for making me feel better!

http://www.cimarronstrip.com/biostu.html Oh, well, maybe marriage to the Russian lady won't last. I bet she's just using him... I give their relationship another 60 minutes, and then I'll make my move. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48

I am really looking forward to your comments on DESERT FURY; I was the appetizer on it, but you'll give us the main course. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48

Seems to me the beast in all of us is GREED, not the 'dirty deed". -
Amanda looks like her dad, in drag:

I'm actually going to send SW a birthday card. (hope he doesn't think I'm a stalker or anything, LOL. But I feel like I'm in my second childhood, discovering the TCM message boards....) I of course will put your name on it, and I'll sign for Duke too. Seems like he didn't make a lot of artistic choices, shall we say, later in life but I guess like you say he built up his portfolio, and managed to keep working. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48

I need to build my film library so I'll probably get the dvd too. (and for TRIBUTE TO A BAD MAN) Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48

Thanks, lz! He's got an address I found on the imdb message boards -- he lives iin Santa BARBARA, CA. Hmm, that's a good sign.... I'll send him a birthday card, what the heck. There aren't too many veteran actors like him around. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48

I missed it too; I'll have to catch it in March. -
Would you believe I've never seen THE THORN BIRDS? Daughter Amanda looks just like him.

Zeta-Jones is another dark beauty, but there's just something about those old stars.
