Amanda looks like her dad, in drag:
-
I'm actually going to send SW a birthday card. (hope he doesn't think I'm a stalker or anything, LOL. But I feel like I'm in my second childhood, discovering the TCM message boards....)
I of course will put your name on it, and I'll sign for Duke too.
Seems like he didn't make a lot of artistic choices, shall we say, later in life but I guess like you say he built up his portfolio, and managed to keep working.

I was disturbed to see my new heartthrob, Stuart Whitman, in this movie (and check out the Western thread for "Whitman vs. Drag Queens"), but he's good with his money, and couldn't resist the "lettuce".

LOL, "bunnies.....bunnies who need bunnies....."
-
Is BUNNY O'HARE the movie with Bette Davis and Ernest Borgnine on motorcycles?
A screen first.
-
Hi, Ark, yes I agree there's more to HARVEY than meets the eye.
-
I need to build my film library so I'll probably get the dvd too. (and for TRIBUTE TO A BAD MAN)

Thanks, lz!
He's got an address I found on the imdb message boards -- he lives iin Santa BARBARA, CA. Hmm, that's a good sign....
I'll send him a birthday card, what the heck. There aren't too many veteran actors like him around.

Yeah, YouTube has some great Cantor stuff.

Oh, I'm in a bunny frame of mind, from the sublime (Harvey) to the ridiculous (Night of the Lepus) and back to the sublime:
-
A long way from THE COMANCHEROS:

I missed it too; I'll have to catch it in March.

Would you believe I've never seen THE THORN BIRDS?
Daughter Amanda looks just like him.
-
Zeta-Jones is another dark beauty, but there's just something about those old stars.
-
Thanks, Frank. . I didn't know what to expect going into DESERT FURY and now it's one of my favorite noirs. Was really knocked out by Wendell Corey and Lizabeth Scott. And Mary Astor as the tough sister is superb but then she always is.
This is really a cult classic.

Miss G, I cannot express to you my thanks for that magnificent cd link. I clicked on the title, and have been in heaven for the past hour or so listening to it...
And then I clicked in TRIBUTE TO A BAD MAN, with that beautiful main theme.
I'll get them both.
And if THAT weren't enough, you've posted another exquisite photo of Stuart. I bow down to you..
Stu, baby, get ready for the hugs from me, Miss Goddess, and Duke.

Wow -- I didn't know Cagney was in a second western (of sorts)
Bogie with a mustache? Doesn't look too flattering, lol.
Thanks so much for that info.
-
Ah, thanks for delving into him (so to speak)!
He's from California? I thought he was a Southern boy -- he always had that accent. Wasn't he from Virginia like Randolph Scott?
He DOES look shorter next to Duke.
I'm obsessed with that stirring score from THE COMANCHEROS. I love it to death.
I'm playing that trailer over and over, to hear it (and look at Stuart kissing Ina)
Good thinking on Wayne's part not to immediately kick Nehemiah in the butt for that insult. He knew if he did, he'd be permanently hangin' from that scaffold.
Stuart is about 80 now and well fixed.
I'll fly out next week.
Don't tell Duane.

The only time he used that flatness to his advantage was as the smooth-talking preppie killer in A KISS BEFORE DYING.

I actually like men not too tall and not too short. I prefer lookin' at 'em straight in the eye -- neither up nor down.
OMG that Plummer photo as Antony -- pant! pant! Really captures Christopher's persona, doesn't it??
I've heard over the years that Wagner was and is a real gent. He and Jill make a good-looking couple.
I've got to put THE HIGH COMMISSIONER on my list. You know how much I also love Rod.
I wouldn't know where to look either.
-
Thanks! Maybe the Western Channel will show RUN FOR COVER.
Now I want to see everything that Whitman ever did.
I think I saw THE MARK decades ago, but don't really remember it. Strong subject matter.
-
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR WHITMAN!!! Beautiful!!!
I saw 10 NORTH FREDERICK a long time ago. Coop looked damned good.

Yep. Storch was a reliable comedy actor for years, and like some up and down careers in show biz, his slowed down a bit in the sixties, so he took F Troop. I used to watch it as a kid and thought it was silly, and only later discovered that Larry had done a lot of good stuff beforehand.

Seems to me the beast in all of us is GREED, not the 'dirty deed".
