No, after Thalberg died, she had flings not only with Rooney, but I believe George Raft and James Stewart as well.
-
Yeah, I loved the tall girl (and her romantic advice was so wise) and the fact that Rooney allowed the script to capitalize on the can-do aspects of a person's height.
Bonita really was lovely, but I'm not sure why she took this part. Granted, the Hardy series was extremely popular and well thought of, but after seeing her in NOW, VOYAGER, I wonder why she took a bland role as one of Andy's girlfriends.

Mickey romanced a lot of beautiful women, including Norma Shearer!

I really enjoyed LIFE BEGINS FOR ANDY HARDY. Judy was a delight, really coming into her own as an actress.
I was fascinated, however, by Patricia Dane as the sophisticated city switchboard operator. She reminded me in looks and acting style of Joan Bennett warming up for SCARLET STREET or WOMAN IN THE WINDOW. I never heard of Dane before, but she really gave a charismatic performance.

I don't think many people know that Rooney was one of M.G.M.'s biggest stars, along with Gable, Tracy, etc.
You can really see what a fine actor he was in the Hardy series. He was very self-assured in the dramatic scenes

Oh, I couldn't agree with you more.
They even tried to recreate the housekeeper's creepy speech that you mentioned, but it just didn't frighten me like the original.

During the pumpkin pie:
Mom: "Did I tell you the story about my panties?"
Me: "What??"
Mom: "The story about my panties"
Me: "I don't think I want to hear this"
Mom: "No, it's nothing like that -- we didn't do things like that. It was at the Lowe's Paradise"
Me: "You were with a date?"
Mom: "No, with Aunt Mildred" (her sister)
Me: "So what happened?"
Mom: "I think it was the premiere of GONE WITH THE WIND, but I'm not sure...."
Me: "How old were you?"
Mom: "Oh, I think I was a teenager.
I looked down, and there they were, on the floor"
Me: "How could your panties fall down??"
Mom: "I don't know, but I think the elastic stretched or something."
Me: "Did anyone see you -- were you embarrassed?"
Mom: "I don't remember. I pulled them back on and we went in to see the movie."
Me: "Weren't there a lot of people in the lobby for the premiere of GONE WITH THE WIND?"
Mom: "Actually, I'm not sure if that was the movie."
Me: "But you remember your panties falling down"
Mom: "Well, you don't forget a thing like that. More pumpkin pie?"
Me: "No, I just lost my appetite".

CARVEL NIGHT FEVER.
Betsy Booth to Andy: "Can I wipe your forehead?"
-
Andy even goes to the malt shop, like Gig Young.
-
You just summed it up well yourself.
And I'm glad that in 1978 they didn't make ANDY HARDY GETS SOCIAL SECURITY.
-
Yeah, they're all wonderful, but ANDY HARDY GOES HOME was kind of unsettling.....sort of like a Twilight Zone episode ("Walking Distance") but with an interesting twist.
Serling: "Meet Mr. Andrew Hardy. He thinks he can't go home again, that there's only one summer to a customer. But he soon finds out that not only CAN he go home again, but, he can become his beloved and wise father.....only in, The Twilight Zone....."
-
I know that feeling, but don't be melancholy -- watch some Andy Hardy.
-
I'm enjoying them as well; they're better than I remembered.
They really are addictive; I've been watching them almost one after the other. (stuffed with turkey, I can't do anything else)

I'm looking forward to your comments.

Looking forward to your feedback!
Have, uh, fun.

Zeta-Jones is gorgeous, quite an eyeful but of course she and this film couldn't hold a candle to Claire Bloom and Robert Wise's classic.
I like Lili in things like I SHOT ANDY WARHOL -- she was great in that.
I'm generally not in favor of remakes either; because they're almost always so pointless.
-
I'm with Frank, those paintings are fantastic -- I'd love to have them myself.
I do agree with you about Coop -- that left eye.
-
Ah, I see them now! Three llittle kitties -- love that picture behind Julia. Thank you so much!

Having discovered all the Peanuts holiday shows on YouTube, I'm going to enjoy A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving tomorrow, with no commercial interruptions. (on the networks, it seemed like 20 minutes of Little Debbie snack cakes, and ten minutes of Charlie Brown)

From what I've read about Raft, he was quite a popular choice with the ladies -- including Betty Grable.
