  1. What was Marion the Librarian thinking?  A con man like Harold Hill is bad enough, but one who looks like Robert Preston....just....NO.

I certainly wouldn't be racing over to the footbridge for that.

    Great Honk!

  2. Molo!  LOL Thanks so much my friend!  Frankie, Annette, Connie Francis, Paula Prentiss, Timothy Hutton, Yvette Mimieux, George Hamilton and I always have fun in Palm Beach!

The lizards, frogs, snakes and alligators send you their love.  They are in tip-top condition and ready to celebrate Halloween.  They're crawling to Washington, D.C. to pick up their human costumes. (from both sides of the aisle)

  3. Alan Ladd is so adorable in THIS GUN FOR HIRE.  Lurv him as Raven!

There's one scene in particular that really cinches it for me re: his star quality -- when he asks Lake if she's going to marry Robert Preston.  After she answers "Yes", Alan smiles and says "O.K."

🎂 Wishing you a LOVELY day today, dear Miss Bronxie! Hope your birthday is absolutely delightful. ❤️

Thank you so much, Ma!  Yes, I had a lovely birthday. Peaceful, quiet, not even the sound of skittering baby lizards to mar the blessed silence and beauty of a sunny, dry, lazy Florida October day.  Plus, one more month and hurricane season will be over!

  5. Scotty!  Thank you so much! What a sweet wonderful one-of-a-kind guy you are!   Arigato! I would be breathing fire had I indulged myself today with a pepperoni pizza, a mound of fries, and gallon of Coca-Cola.  Instead, I enjoyed breakfast-for-dinner -- creamy scrambled eggs, white toast with blackberry jam, fresh squeezed orange juice, and iced coffee.  Duane fixed it for me.  I followed that up with a pint of Rocky Road (made myself an ice-cream soda, too)  I love Japanese food too much to be stomping on Tokyo.  (also, TOKYO STORY is one of my all-time favorite films.  Ozu is the master!)

  6. Scott, aww...and coincidentally I happen to have a jar of Smucker's peach preserves in the fridge, lol.

Hello, SansFin!  How are you doing?  Darn, I didn't know about National Teddy Bear Day.  I have a beloved ranger bear who looks like Smokey's little brother.  When you press the tummy he says "Are you ready for adventure?"

Hi, Chris!  I just finished watching RED RIVER.  John Ireland (I dub him cinema's most effective actor in portraying cynical characters) as Cherry Valance is one of my all-time favorite performances.  ("I haven't any such notion....")  I'd like to think he survived at the finale.  Could Joanne Dru be any more annoying?  Among Hawks' signature feisty and sexually aggressive women, in my opinion she's the least appealing.  And all the, er "coffee" talk, lol.  Never has a cup of caffeine been so suggestive....

  7. Scott mon cher ami!  I saw BLACULA and SBS decades ago and felt the need to revisit them.  William Marshall is one of the screen's great vampires in my opinion.  I enjoy the voodoo aspects in the sequel; however, the two overall are highly watchable.  Unique and worthy additions to the Dracula mythology.

  8. Re:  LURED, so Lucy and George see each other -- what? -- only about three or four times and then get engaged?  That's a swift courtship, lol.

It seemed like the script didn't quite know what to do with Sanders' character, though.  "Unmitigated cad" or "lovestruck (anti)-hero?"  I'm a big fan of this actor but for some reason his role didn't really jell with me.

  9. Thank you, molo!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY TCM FRIENDS!

(I'm still having some trouble uploading photos and such -- must the the same gremlins that pestered William Shatner on that TZ airplane....)

Speaking of which, I've been popping in and out of the Twilight Zone marathon on the SyFy Channel.

I recorded the two Bergman films that were shown on TCM Imports -- WINTER LIGHT and THE SILENCE but think I'll save my viewing for next week.   Why depress myself on New Year's Day, lol.

OMG, the singing! The superstar who supposedly just sold out Madison Square Garden goes home and falls for the woman mucking out the stables, clinching the deal with a song which in actuality would clear Madison Square Garden in two seconds flat. We take our inspiration where we find it, eh?

Hackmark has taken a very sinister turn by importing "names" like Debbie Gibson and LeeAnn Rimes and...Gasp!..Mariah Carey. Stay in your own lane, ladies. There's only so much we can handle.

    You know your Hackmark!

Apart from the so-called singing, I'm waiting for future titles like Staten Island Noel, A Bronx Santa, Merry, Merry Brooklyn and A Queen's Christmas in Queens.
