HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

-
Oh, moira, molto grazie mia cara amica. I am very touched. You have also crossed my mind more than a few times when I am enjoying a particularly wonderful turkey or a "regular" classic. I miss the fun a bunch of us had at the other retreat and hope we all can get those colored lights going again over there.
How kind of you to remember my birthday and Marcello! And speaking of colored lights, why no, I don't mind you letting him in AT ALL, lol.
Again, thank you so much for your best wishes. Hope you are doing okay.
I'm getting ready for THE CHAMPAGNE MURDERS this evening; have never seen it. I'll also revisit PRETTY POISON which I sometimes get mixed up with LORD LOVE A DUCK.

Hello, laffite! Thank you for the birthday greetings!
Yes, this new format will take time getting used to but it makes me happy to know that Mom's memory will live on thanks to the dear friends here who continue to embrace and support this thread. I cannot begin to express my love and appreciation for all of you.

Hi, molo, yes, here I am but I think we must cue The Twilight Zone theme! Everything is so strange, but now everyone can enjoy my old posts and the conversations with Mom! I've been laughing and crying re-reading them and also remembering all the great rambles with wonderful friends.
I'm not worrying about the aliens anymore because there is a new neighbor in our complex who bears an unnerving resemblance to Francis Lederer.
Boca might even get down into the 50's next week. Cannot wait.
Dougie B., nice to see you! Yes, it's topsy-turvy on the boards but I'm thrilled that the old posts are the first we see. Loved that you brought up NASHVILLE -- I didn't think of that Julie Christie connection, lol.

Scottie, my friend, my friend! Thank you!
Blessings!
I was a good little girl on my birthday but wondered why all the other children didn't come to the party. Maybe I should have put their invitations into a regular mail box and not that tree....
-
Chris, please accept my belated birthday greetings to you (I haven't been thinking clearly for several months). I do remember you are a fellow Libra, and we're the best, right, lol?
I had a pleasant quiet day alone with chocolate cake and pizza. A girlfriend was out of town visiting family and we will celebrate when she gets back and takes me out for a nice dinner.
Our weather will be "cooling off" a bit next week which means it will get "down" to about 70, which in South Florida is almost chilly, ha!
Blessings to you, my friend, and thank you for thinking of me.

Hello, Swithin, my fellow Bronxite!
Thank you so much for your best wishes. I bless the memory of your dear mother on her birthday today.
Take care.

Molo! lol, oh, no, I'm not marrying a monster from outer space! They can have Gloria instead!
Thank you my friend! See you later!
-
Thank you so much, Ro!! Hey, Godzilla sure knows how to make a girl feel special! Ha!!
So many birthday candles, lol, they are falling off my German Chocolate cake....
I'm spending a quiet day at home which is always the best place as far as I'm concerned.
-
You're welcome -- and thank you kindly!
Hope you had some great desserts!

Ooops! Happy September 26th birthday! It's official now!
Stumpy is upset about screwing it up:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RO!
Wishing you all the best because you deserve it!
Stumpy isn't too sentimental but sends his own form of love:

Rich, just to let you know that your thread has been helping me deal with the recent death of my mother, "Bronxgirl's Mom"
You're brilliant as always!
Love,
Barb

But now we've got Tropical Storm Maria to worry about, churning in the Atlantic at this moment! Oh, no, no, no!
I'll just have to move to the south of France, lol.
Although with everything going on in Europe these days, that might not be such a good idea....

Thanks so much, Sans! It was a pretty scary experience, just like the first hurricane I went through, Wilma in 2005.
The "best" I can say about hurricanes is that we are given warnings in advance so necessary preparations can be made, unlike earthquakes. I have a brother in San Francisco and am always concerned.
-
Hi, guys, made it through one scary Sunday and the power outage aftermath. Thanks my TCM friends, for all your thoughts and prayers.
My building and apartment did not sustain any damage; others across the state weren't so lucky.
We in Boca experienced the "back end" of Irma but it was rough.
Hurricane season ends November 30. Needless to say I cannot wait.

Howdy, Ma Stone! I love all kinds of quizzes and tests anyway, and the Hitchcock course was chock full of those kinds of things. I don't think this would have worked with any other director!
-
Barb, congratulations! I hope you'll go for your Ph.d. When you find yourself in a situation, do hear strains of Bernard Hermann? I hope not.
Happy Birthday to Frank and Molo. I miss you both around here.
And you too, Barb. Hope all is well.
Laffite
Thank you, Lafitte! I'm doing a bit better and wishing you all the best as well.
The only Bernard Herrmann music I want to hear is not in a Hitchcock film, lol. I'd much prefer his beautiful score from The Ghost and Mrs. Muir as I'm having a "situation" with Captain Gregg!

I hope that all here are well and happy.
We watched the eclipse from the parking lot behind our home. It was a first for both of us. I can not describe it except to say that it looked exactly as all the pictures of it but it was simultaneously incredibly awesome. It is easy for me to understand how people believed once that it is a powerful omen sent by the gods.
Sans, I am sending blessings to you and your husband.
I didn't see any eclipse here in South Florida. In fact, there seemed to be more sunshine, lol!
-
Frank, my friend, my friend!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
!

I got an online "certificate" for completing the Hitchcock course. Sorry that it's all over!
But I'm here to wish FrankGrimes and Molo14 happy August birthday wishes and blessings. You two are very special people who deserve all the best in life.

Thanks so much, Ma Stone! I am trying to utilize more unconventional forms of relaxation techniques.
One that is working is signing up for the TCM online Hitchcock course. It is so much fun and has taken my mind off things for the time being.

Oh Kathy thank you so much for those comforting words. You always lift me up, my friend, and these days I need more "lifting" than usual.
I'm hoping I don't experience any delayed physical reactions like panic attacks, which I'm susceptible to. I had a lot of them over the years after a beloved first cousin suffered and eventually died from multiple sclerosis. I lived with and looked after him for about a year until he deteriorated. It was extremely traumatic. My cousin was only in his 40's when he passed.
But this was my mother, my childhood now "officially" gone, and the full realization of her death has still not really hit me.
