  1. Hey, Mad Hat! Now it's Thursday, so it must be Montreux, lol. You know, I never saw Joan Collins either! I had such a crush on Ian McShane in this but, like Suzanne, did realize he wasn't exactly husband material. Still, to quote Rosanno Brazzi from another "travel" movie, "So, is better to take home only Venetian glass?" Ollie, I'm blaming my brother for everything, ha! Hi, lafitte, my matey! How are the seven seas treating you?
  2. Hi, guys! molo, my sweetpea! ro, my sista! Saw MAN HUNT this afternoon. I love Fritz Lang! This just might be my favorite Joan Bennett performance.
  3. Howdy, Ma Stone! Thanks so much for your concern. Mom is coming along as best she can for someone 94 years old. She has an optimistic outlook on life which I always hear is beneficial for longevity. If that's the case, I better start looking at the glass as half full.... Hope there aren't any tornadoes heading your way. We've got one month to hurricane season. I'd move to my beloved South of France if only I didn't keep reading there are always reports of UFO activity sighted on the Cote d'Azur. (the aliens apparently have great taste) Hey, Ollie, I really was the perfect child! It was my brother who drove Mom crazy, lol.
  4. Hi, Ollie! Still not sure about HOUSESITTER (except for Steve Martin). DECEIVED is a fairly standard thriller but has its chilling moments, thanks to a certain main character. (don't want to give any spoilers). Goldie seemed to be playing by the numbers in this one as far as I could see. Happy Mothers Day, everyone. Mom is in rehab until the 21st, waiting to return to her assisted living apartment. She's doing well, thank God, and just has to work on her balance and general mobility. They don't have TCM where she's at now so Mom has to settle for CNN (how depressing! Wolf Blitzer, ugh, lol)
  5. Ro, I really like LUCK OF THE IRISH. It's a bit disconcerting to see "Sophie" (Anne Baxter) together again in a decidedly more pleasant relationship, with "Larry" (Tyrone Power) back from the grimness of her circumstances in THE RAZOR'S EDGE. (and his in NIGHTMARE ALLEY, yikes!) I don't think HOUSESITTER will be on my Must See list, lol, since I've never been able to tolerate Goldie Hawn post-PRIVATE BENJAMIN, and that's been over thirty years ago, oh my gosh, ha! Love her in THE SUGARLAND EXPRESS -- Goldie had/has untapped dramatic potential but I don't think her audience wanted to see her in those kinds of complex roles. I'll be around more often, hope to get to Western Rambles since I do realize I've been remiss in certain areas there..... SansFin, lol, all I could think of while listening to that was picturing Sean Connery in an X-rated version of DARBY O'GILL AND THE LITTLE PEOPLE.
  6. Ma Stone, top of the evenin' to you! Oh thank you me darlin'. I know I've been away for a bit -- life stuff and all -- so to see you here warms the cockles of my heart. (what's a cockle?) Never saw HOUSESITTER -- that is just hilarious! One of the funniest things I've ever seen in fact oh my god, lol. The way Martin says "Hush!" I couldn't stop laughing. Hope you and the family's St. Pat's Day was fun. I ate a pint of pistachio ice-cream. It should have been a quart....
  7. LOL too adorable for words, ha!! Wee Irish piggy. That Guinness looks good.....
  8. Oh my goodness, lol. Don't let Michael McBride (Sean Connery-- looking more gorgeous than any man has a right to -- in DARBY O'GILL AND THE LITTLE PEOPLE) see that.
  9. I feel the need to give LE BONHEUR a second chance because I do appreciate Varda's work so will look for it on YouTube. I was rather detached myself from the characters but wonder if this was the director's intention in some sort of ironically flat-affect way. I did find the contrasting seasonal visuals rather haunting.
  10. Bonjour, SansFin, and merci! I did see that Agnes Varda short and loved every moment of it -- fascinatingly sardonic and very French, lol. Still trying to figure out LE BONHEUR....
  11. Flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, sweet Roddy. Happy Birthday. You were so much more than just a gorgeous hunk. I'm glad you even stopped by in the Bronx for a time.
  12. Aloha, Goddess! I can't believe Rod is gone. So rugged, virile, charming, sweet, a real man! I feel like looking at some of those back-in-the-day "Hong Kong" episodes now.... Lynn, you'll definitely find me in front of the t.v. watching all of our dear Time Traveller's movies on the 29th.
  13. Frank, you had me at George O'Brien shirtless. I'm going to watch THE BLUE EAGLE right now, lol. Thanks for providing us red-blooded American women and Pappy fans the YouTube link.
  14. I didn't know, either, until about forty-five minutes or so ago. This year I actually remembered that Rod's birthday was on the 11th of this month -- I usually forget the date due to my Baby Boomer memory -- and so was going to post a tribute to him then, when I found out he was gone.... Yes, which 3 books? That's always been such a fun question in the movie! I'm still figuring it out....
  15. I was going to wish Rod Happy Birthday on January 11th. But he's coming back!

"All the time in the world....."
  17. Warmest of holiday wishes, my friends, my friends! Frank, I just love Bogie as a psycho, from THE RETURN OF DR. X, CONFLICT, THE TWO MRS. CARROLLS, IN A LONELY PLACE, and THE CAINE MUTINY. !https://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=AwrTca9.N5tULvoArt4PxQt.;_ylu=X3oDMTBsOXB2YTRjBHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA2dxMQR2dGlkAw--?p=the+return+dr+x&back=https%3A%2F%2Fsearch.yahoo.com%2Fyhs%2Fsearch%3Fp%3Dthe%2Breturn%2Bof%2Bdr.%2Bx%2Bphoto%26ei%3DUTF-8%26hsimp%3Dyhs-001%26hspart%3Dmozilla&w=576&h=416&imgurl=media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com%2F736x%2Fbd%2Fab%2Fac%2Fbdabac958502dbe25c840752e40c3379.jpg&size=18KB&name=bdabac958502dbe25c840752e40c3379.jpg&rcurl=http%3A%2F%2Fpinterest.com%2Fpin%2F160370436704290126%2F&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fpinterest.com%2Fpin%2F160370436704290126%2F&type=&no=8&tt=120&oid=ff987bbf18323794302d33d695dd43b7&****=Humphrey+Bogart%2C+The+Return+of+Dr.+X.&sigr=11cogtb8f&sigi=12df1gu2o&sign=114a29b2f&sigt=103vg5ole&sigb=13543ikg3&fr=yhs-mozilla-001&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-001! !https://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=A0LEVu5XOptUon4A9.oPxQt.;_ylu=X3oDMTBsa3ZzMnBvBHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkAw--?p=two+mrs+carrolls&back=https%3A%2F%2Fsearch.yahoo.com%2Fyhs%2Fsearch%3Fp%3Dthe%2Btwo%2Bmrs.%2Bcarrolls%2Bphoto%26ei%3DUTF-8%26hsimp%3Dyhs-001%26hspart%3Dmozilla&w=736&h=539&imgurl=media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com%2F736x%2F2d%2F39%2F78%2F2d3978de2d97f792b494c71827c5a2c4.jpg&size=143KB&name=2d3978de2d97f792b494c71827c5a2c4.jpg&rcurl=http%3A%2F%2Fpinterest.com%2Fpin%2F103301385175410844%2F&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fpinterest.com%2Fpin%2F103301385175410844%2F&type=&no=3&tt=120&oid=1d09c9e870fd2f9e38cb5c290feefab8&****=The+Two+Mrs+Carrolls&sigr=11cmi7vf2&sigi=12d7nittk&sign=114m5hbt2&sigt=103vg5ole&sigb=137edndl1&fr=yhs-mozilla-001&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-001! Margaret Rutherford is the best thing about BLITHE SPIRIT. She's the epitome of the British "eccentric". Fine performances from Gene Tierney, Edmund Purdom, Michael Wilding, Bella Darvi, Victor Mature and Jean Simmons in THE EGYPTIAN. This movie used to frighten me as a kidlet, especially the scenes of slaves stirring the natron in large pots for future mummies. Back in the day, CRY 'HAVOC' used to play a lot on the old t.v. I remember thinking the first time I ever saw this that it was probably the most depressing movie I'd ever seen. I still think so. A stereotyped "cross-section" of WWII volunteer nurses (stripper, socialite, etc.) are imprisoned in a Japanese labor camp. Throw in sniper attacks, malaria, etc. Very grim. Some funny routines in A&C MEET THE MUMMY, my favorite being the newspaper boy mirage. Plus, there's Marie Windsor. Bud's stomach actually looked larger than Lou's. A STOLEN LIFE is pure Bette Davis camp. The "twins" special effects are really good. Dane Clark's intensity as a muscular-but-arty "New York" type is unintentionally amusing. I don't remember much of THIS PROPERTY IS CONDEMNED, except that it's probably one of Natalie Wood's best roles. A basket full of kisses to all!
  18. Love that story, Sans! I dont mind spiders (except for tarantulas) or rodents (mice specifially) when they're connected with certain folktale lore and legend in connection with the household. It's "cozy", not creepy.
