Does anyone have a photo of Mr. Morrow when he was in King Creole? That film is hardly ever talked about. Is it out on DVD?
-
OMG - what a disgusting thought! Brando must have had a penchant for "mooning" because he did it in Last Tango in Paris on the ballroom floor and it was unscripted and a lady looked like she was gonna pass out - I don't blame her, Brando had the biggest tush I've ever seen.
-
My favorite line - Frankly my dear, i don't give a damn.
Best I can do - since I can't remember any Bogart lines.

Interesting tidbit about Gary Cooper:
Although Cooper dismissed the new school of actors in the 1950s as "a bunch of goof balls" and could be caustic about "the Method" advanced by the Actors Studio in New York, Lee Strasberg told everyone that Cooper was a natural Method actor, he just didn't know it. Cooper did at least admire Marlon Brando's work, and became a producing partner with his father, Marlon Brando Sr..

That photo on Life magazine is Gary Cooper??? I thought it was Robin Gibb from the Bee Gees or Tiny Tim.

This woman committed suicide while pregnant? I feel badly about what happened to her - but she also took another life - she gave no thought to the poor baby. Many people who want babies can't have one and here's a person who should have been happy to be having a child - even if it wasn't with the man she wanted it to be.
-
I love this thread too. I wonder if someone can post baby photos of William Holden, Richard Widmark, Steve McQueen, Cary Grant, Gregory Peck, Robert Mitchum, James Cagney, Vic Morrow, Paul Newman, Marlon Brando and Jimmy Stewart - all favorite actors of mine.
I would love to guess any baby photos that is posted - excellent thread.
-
I like the article too. I read on one of the websites I was browsing that Vic Morrow audtioned for the bad student part in Blackboard Jungle along with 47 other people who auditioned. They narrowed it down to 7 - and these 7 went to Hollywood and auditioned and Vic Morrow won the role - I think that's pretty impressive especially when Steve McQueen was one of the final 7 and Vic Morrow was a virtual unknown.

maybe TCM will show this film as part of a Vic Morrow day.
This guy has almost 400 posts on this thread, so he's definitely a person deserving of a day on TCM, even a 1/2 day of his films would be good
and there's lots of interest in him.
Is there a way to get someone's attention at TCM who schedules
the programs/films?

I saw that interview and it was very good. He hardly ever gave interviews because he was a bit shy and awkward speaking in front of the camera. He smoked way too much though. I did hear he took to the bottle later on in his life due to some personal problems and his career was floundering at the time. Does anyone else know or care to add anything? It seems he looked very haggard towards the end of his life, a very sad story indeed, because I think he was revitalizing his career with the film Twilight Zone and then the tragic accident happened.
-
No, didn't like it at all - stupid film and I thought Brando had such a small part and was paid millions of dollars for that.
-
Most time he looked like he had brown hair though.
Has anyone seen Viva Zapata? It's a movie I always wanted to see but can't find anywhere. Is it out on DVD? Can TCM ever play this film?

why would anyone want to meet a deceased celebrity?
-
I'm wondering if Borat is funny - I hear people raving over it - not sure whether to buy the DVD though.

I once stood next to Candace Bergen at a musuem. I met Caroline Kennedy at the United Nations where she worked as an intern and my class had her as a tour guide. Boring stuff isn't it?

I think the father of the baby will be Larry Birkhead - the baby looks exactly like him. Thank goodness she doesn't look like that dopey Howard K. Stern, a man was was nothing but a "hanger on" who fantasized about Anna Nicole Smith. He's 39 years old and said she paid for everything for him and she's his only client. What lawyer only has 1 client and gets into a relationship with her? Then he says that his parents are now giving him money. I heard on another program that he wanted Anna Nicole to be happy and while she would sleep upstairs with all different guys, he'd be on the sofa downstairs. What's wrong with this guy? He sounds like he's a card short of a full deck. Hopefully this beautiful baby will be given to a family that will care for her and give her a normal life as possible.

I think my parents have t.v.s that are over 20 years old - one of them still uses rabbit ears. They never wanted cable and just enjoy whatever programs they can get. I don't know what they are going to do - they don't like to learn anything new.
-
Oh otter, I have to get back on topic - I lost track of myself with all this undie talk. Brando wore such a short skirt in Julius Caesar, yet nothing showed below his hem. How disappointing.
-
Otter - who knows maybe he left his undies on the floor and Stella picks them up for him. Cinemascope, what a nice perspective you must have of Brando now. He always looked like he never wore any undies - in every film I ever saw him in. Mutiny in the Bounty was another film where he looked free as a bird - it's distracting to always see the diddlydoo.
-
Yes, rewatch it and look closely - especially the parts right before the part at the birthday table where he "clears the table" and the party where he walks in on Blanche after he comes home from the hospital where Stella is having a baby - he clearly wasn't wearing undies - I'm surprised none of the other women posters here mentioned it - I'm sure every woman would notice it - that was the best part of the film. Of course the whole film was great too.

I like Barbara Stanwyck. Is anyone familiar with this show she had?
The funny part of Blackboard Jungle was that Vic Morrow was 26 years old at the time and effectively played a high-school student.
I just saw a movie on another cable station called "Buried Alive" and Vic Morrow's daughter, Jennifer Jason Leigh was in it. I clearly saw the resemblence to her father, she had the same eyes, nose and that pouting mouth - she looked exactly like him.
-
Maybe it will - but what if an elderly person doesn't know how to set it up or has difficulty getting out of the house to buy a t.v. set. What if they don't know how to use the converter box? What if they wish to stay with what they have and are used to? A lot of elderly people find it very stressful to change their ways - and I think this isn't right to do to people.
-
A great person to have "In The Spotlight". I always liked Sal Mineo and thought he was a fine actor. I have seen him in Giant and Rebel Without a Cause and Exodus. I just recently saw his as a guest star in the Combat! t.v. series.
An excellent underated actor - it is quite a shame the way in which he died. I can't believe it happened in 1976- 31 years ago went by so quickly.
-
Too bad all the folks with analog t.v.'s don't protest this vehemently. I have elderly relatives who still use rabbit ears and don't have cable t.v. and that's the way they like it and are used to it that way. Why should they be forced to buy new t.v.'s or pay lots of money for a converter box they wouldn't know how to hook up or use? I think it's awful - you think a person in their 90's can even get out of the house or know how to buy a new t.v. and hook this thing up? I wouldn't even know how to do it. I just think it's an inconvenience and it's thrown at elderly people who won't have a choice. I hope the whole thing backfires and people can choose how they want to watch television.
