great story!

I get Cozi tv. Not too impressed with the channel though. Terrible quality, very grainy and blurry. The tv. shows aren't really great on that channel. Seems like these were shows that were ready for the garbage and this station bought them up at a cheap price.

I like her best in "single white female". Her other roles never appealed to me and half the time she keeps her mouth too tightly clenched to understand her.

Oh, that face, that fabulous face. Whose is it?

It looks like a young Marlene Dietrich. -
Really nice thread. Happy Holidays to all and a Happy New Year too!

Yes, I think Brando was the greatest. I think Brando with Morrow would have made for an excellent film. Actually, Brando with anybody would have made an excellent film.

Even The Superstars Were In Some Stinkers

I had heard that Charlton Heston was in a movie called Soylent Green. I had never seen that film, but read that it was a horrendous film - has anyone seen it? -
I agree. I thought Morrow should have been nominated for a Best Supporting Actor for Blackboard Jungle. I think perhaps it was his first movie role, and maybe because he wasn't well-known to Hollywood, he wasn't nominated. It happened to Brando as well. He should have been nominated for "The Men" and for "Streetcar" but because he was relatively unknown, and also went against the grain and didn't conform to Hollywood standards, he didn't get the award for Best Actor until he was nominated for a few movies prior to that. But Morrow wasn't even nominated, and he surely was worthy of an award for his role as Artie West in Blackboard Jungle. Edited by: newclassicfilmfan on Dec 17, 2012 5:27 PM

I saw an episode with John Cassavetes as a guest star - very good episode! I also so one with Dennis Hopper. Combat! is great! Amazing how nobody ever had to take a bathroom break from the squad.

such a cute photo. It looks like Kathrine Hepburn. -
This thread is funny. I had to think for a while, but I think I'd say the following don't exude too much sex appeal, at least not for me. Jackie Gleason, John Wayne, Rowan Atkinson, Peter Sellers, Nicholas Cage, Robert Pattinson, Jimmy Stewart, Sidney Potier, Vincent Price, Errol Flynn. For the women, the ones who do nothing for me are Ava Gardner (too hard bitten looking for my taste), Barbara Stanwyck (a bit mannish looking), Bette Davis, Ingrid Bergman.

Hello again Dpompper. Enjoy watching the show. I watched all the episodes. There were several with Saunders with a small dog. One episode was "Hear No Evil" where Saunders lost his hearing due to a grenade exploding near him and the small dog was his "ears" and helped him along the way. I don't recall an episode with a kitten, however, there was a cat that came nearby a hiding Saunders and the guest star Sal Mineo, other than that, I can't recall a kitten. If you get to watch Season 5, which is the last season in color, I liked the episode which had Bill Bixby as a guest star.

Hello Dpompper. I love that tv show. Vic Morrow made the whole show and I also enjoy watching the DVDs I have. I recall the episode you refer to. Some of my favorites are Furlough (which was in color from the last season with guest star Carol Lawrence). I also liked Gitty, Survival, Chapel at Able Five, The Losers, The Medal, The Little Carousel and there is also one with Richard Basehart that is phenomenal. I like the ones where Frank Gorshin guest stars and also Sal Mineo. The are so many good episodes - I love that program.

So many interesting posts and facts about him. I think Rick Jason agreed to take a lesser role in Combat provided he earn the same pay as Morrow. I think Vic Morrow was interested in directing and actually directed some Combat shows and used camera angles ahead of his time. A very talented man and actor.

Off Topic: Favorite Classic TV Shows?
newclassicfilmfan replied to MissGoddess's topic in Your Favorites
Hi Bronxgirl. I think I Love Lucy was the best comedy/sitcom ever made. The Honeymooner were good, but I think I Love Lucy was even funnier. I thought All in the Family was hysterical too. I also liked the Jeffersons. Also, I thought Carroll O'Connor was a nice looking guy. Combat tv show appealed to men and women. I remember plenty of females loved to watch that show as well - and the men really liked it a lot. That was a terrific show. I never tire of watching it. -

I liked the following classic tv shows: All in the Family - funniest show I Love Lucy - I can never tire of watching this, and it's one of the most hysterical shows. The Honeymooners - great show Little House on the Praire COMBAT! - best, most realistic show of the 1960's - and watching that sexy swagger of Sargeant Saunders, played by Vic Morrow, made the show even better. -
I saw Vic Morrow in an episode of Untouchables. He was very young, and quite handsome. I'm surprised he didn't become a romantic leading man, he was quite a good looking guy when he was young. Anyone have any good photos of him when he was a young guy?

Anyone ever see a movie called "Men in War" from mid-1950's? TCM shows this film from time to time. A very young Vic Morrow was in this film and played a soldier who was timid and afraid. Ironic that a few years later he'd play the Sargeant of a squad in Combat. He was a great actor. I hope TCM shows more of his films. I also recall him in King Creole with Elvis Presley.

One of my favorite actors. Glad there is this thread for Vic Morrow. Combat was a terrific tv show from the 1960's. Also Blackboard Jungle was a great film. Morrow also guest starred in many tv shows later in his career such as Bonanza, Untouchables, Charlie's Angels, etc. He was great in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents too. Great actor.

I'm watching this film on TCM now. It is one of the best films I have seen. The acting is supberb. Brando, in particular, seems like a natural to play the part of Kowalski. Vivien Leigh was great in this as well. I think Brando is the best actor I've ever seen. Once he is off the screen, I can't wait for him to come back on - he is mesmorizing to watch. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

Davy Jones of "The Monkees" dead at age 66

So sorry to hear of his passing. Davy Jones was a great singer and nice person. I loved the Daydream Believer song. He was so boyish and cute back in the Monkee Days. RIP sweet man. -
Vic Morrow Movies On Feb. 14?
newclassicfilmfan replied to RigbyMorrow's topic in General Discussions
If they can't have a tribute for him on his birthday, Feb. 14th, how about having him as a Summer Under The Stars candidate? That would be nice. There are several movies that he starred in that I've never seen. Would love to see that film where he played Dutch Schultz and how about Men at War and King Creole and Cimarron to name a few. Morrow was phenomenal. -
How about a "Vic Morrow Day" on TCM?
newclassicfilmfan replied to movielover11's topic in General Discussions
I'm sure TCM can find a day to salute the films of Vic Morrow. If his birthday is in February and it conflicts with the Oscar films, how about devoting a day to him in the summer for "Summer Under the Stars"? Vic Morrow was a great actor, it's long overdue to appreciate his work in film. -
My favorite redheads are Lucille Ball and Rita Hayworth.
