The photos of Stewart Granger and John McCallum look like Vincent Price to me, especially the Stewart Granger photo.

Well, my t.v. will finally be turned on and switched to TCM on Aug. 1st. I hadn't been viewing many TCM movies lately cause they don't show anything I'm interested in - but now that Brando will be on, I'll be sure to watch it. I wish they would have included some lesser shown films of his, like The Young Lions, The Men, Desiree, Viva Zapata, One-Eyed Jacks, The Fugitive Kind. But I can watch On the Waterfront and Streetcar Named Desire anytime they show it. I consider those films and the performance of Brando in those films, to be the best in the history of film.
-
Thank you TCM for having a day devoted to Marlon Brando on Aug. 1st. I think he was the best actor - can't wait to watch some of his films....I never get tired of seeing Brando films.
-
I liked Jennifer Jason Leigh in Single White Female. I think that was one of her best roles.
-
I liked Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Twilight Zone.
-
Vic Morrow and daughter Jennifer Jason Leigh bear a striking resemblence.
-
Jennifer Jason Leigh and her father, the late Vic Morrow, look exactly alike. If you want to see Vic Morrow at his "A" game, catch Blackboard Jungle - a fabulous movie with great acting - and of course watch the television show from the 1960's COMBAT. He was a terrific actor.
-
I used to like McEnroe - and now I enjoy him even more as a commentator. Nadal makes the most amazing shots I've ever seen in all the years I watch tennis. The opponent has to hit 4 or 5 winning shots against any other player, just to win a point against Nadal. He gets to every ball, on the full run he can hit a winning shot that bounces right into the corner of the court - while Nadal winds up 20 feet off the court after the winning shot. He gives 110% on every point - not matter what the score is...and that's why I like him.
-
How about Howard Cossell and Walter Matthau?
-
Dargo - I love tennis. I used to play a little, but not for quite a few years now. I like all top three players - Nadal, Djokovic and Federer. I used to love the Fed/Nadal rivalry, but Fed is slipping a little. He has a good chance to win US Open, but Djokovic (who by the way resembles a Chia Pet), is virtually unbeatable on hard court these days. Nadal is a real exciting player to watch - although he has too many injuries which might cut his career short - but he can go into male modeling after his tennis career is over - good looking guy - off the court.
-
Pretty good matchups Clore! Hedy Lamar and Vivien Leigh also look similar. A young Brando and Newman look alike too. Brad Pitt and James Dean are a slight resemblence too.
-
Man oh man - Nadal/Diamond-Phillips looks alike - and Nadal now has short hair which makes them look even more alike. By the way, hope Nadal wins US Open this year.
-
Dargo - thank you! These are the two young photos of Morrow and Cagney that I'm talking about. They look exactly alike to me.....don't you see a resemblence there? Also, please post Lou Diamond Philips and tennis player Rafael Nadal if you can find it - I think they look similar too. Thanks Dargo - you're great.
-
Willieshedd - yes, I saw Glass House many years ago. I remember Alan Alda (pre-Mash days) and Vic Morrow. That was a very scary film. Morrow was so frightening in it - but his performance was excellent. That film is rarely shown, but it isn't for someone with a weak stomach.
-
Okay - well I think Morrow and Cagney had a resemblence - there are very young photos of Cagney and Morrow - and they had a similar look. Also, I had mentioned another lookalike in the "lookalike" thread under hot topics - Lou Diamond Philips and tennis player Rafael Nadal. What do you think of that matchup?

If You Could Own 5 Pieces of Film Memorabilia

I don't know why, but I'd like the sweaty t-shirt Brando wore in Streetcar Named Desire. Also, I'd like: - the table they sat around from 12 Angry Men - the jacket Brando wore in On the Waterfront - Judy Garland's dress from Wizard of Oz - The 10 Commandments held by Charlton Heston - in the Ten Commandments, along with the staff -
Hi Dargo. I also loved the t.v. show Combat. They sure don't make 'em like that anymore. That show holds up really well - 45 years later. I agree, Vic Morrow can be described as "sullen". Speaking of Morrow and that "lookalike" thread in "Hot Topics" - how about a very young Vic Morrow and a very young James Cagney? I always thought there was a resemblence there.
-
Thanks for posting those Dargo. I think they look exactly alike - Tarentino and Federer. Also, Lou Diamond Philips and tennis player Rafael Nadal look alike too - hope you can post their photos as well. Thank you.
-
I would say Quentin Tarentino and tennis player Roger Federer look alike. Can anyone post their photos here?

Vic Morrow's performance in Blackboard Jungle was one of the best I've seen. He should have been nominated as "supporting actor" for that film. Glenn Ford and Sidney Poitier were also good - although I thought Potier was a little too old to be a high school student at that time. Morrow was a great actor, always gave terrific performances. Yes, I too, would love to see a day devoted to him as well on TCM. He should also get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

I just wanted to digress here. First time I'm seeing this thread. It is David Cassidy's birthday on April 12th. I couldn't believe he will be 61 years old. I remember him on Partridge Family. It's a darn shame he got typecast as a "teenybopper". He was much more than that. He voice was exceptional, great singing range. Aside from that, every girl swooned for him in the Partridge Family days - that hair, those eyes, that voice and of course that hair. Today, seems his looks have faded, but back then, he was mighty fine looking. I haven't seen Partridge Family in 40 years, but they show it on antenna t.v. now - and I almost swooned again at the sight of the young David Cassidy.

The greatest movie "YOU" have ever seen in your life!?
newclassicfilmfan replied to passion4movies's topic in Your Favorites
On the Waterfront - best film I ever saw....followed by: (in no particular order) Streetcar Named Desire Godfather 10 Commandments 12 Angry Men Wizard of Oz East of Eden Blackboard Jungle Great Escape Stalag 17 Forrest Gump Pickup on South Street Sunset Boulevard White Heat -
I agree. I wish TCM could show more of his films. They show Blackboard Jungle from time to time. He made some other films which aren't shown very often. I can't find some of them on DVD either. I thought he could have been nominated for an award for Blackboard Jungle. Maybe it was because he was new to movies at that time and so he wasn't nominated. He was really quite frightening playing that character Artie West in Blackboard Jungle, but then a few years later, he was really good-looking when he played in the COMBAT television series. I liked him, there was something quite handsome and macho looking about him, sort of that craggy look, but I think a lot of men watched COMBAT and the women also watched it back then mostly to see Vic Morrow, I know I did. Vic Morrow would have been 82 years old today - Feb. 14th. Just wanted to make a thread for him today. He was a great actor, albeit very underated. He should have been a "lead" in film, but it never happened. I think he was primarily into made for t.v. movies and guest appearances in many t.v. shows after doing the show COMBAT for which is mostly known for. I saw him guest star in an Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode and also in an old "Elliot Ness" episode and he also did several "Bonanza" shows. I think he was a terrific "method" actor - very intense. He played the "bad guy" roles better than anyone. I'm surprised that he didn't get nominated for an award for his performance in Blackboard Jungle and that his career didn't skyrocket after that. Anyone else see him in any other films?

Stop with the Mickey Rooney shows enought already
newclassicfilmfan replied to dodger's topic in General Discussions
Mickey Rooney was never a favorite of mine - for some reason I feel that he smells bad and I can smell him through the t.v. screen. I just can't look at him....but I'm sure he's a nice man and maybe a good actor.
