  1. Looking at the list from the past several years of "Star of Month" for TCM...I'm surprised Marlon Brando has never been "Star of the Month". He's always been hailed as the "greatest actor", so why not showcase him as "Star of the Month"? Long overdue. Secondly, I'd love to see another terrific actor get some recognition - and that is Vic Morrow. His films are hardly ever shown on TCM except for "Blackboard Jungle". He has made a handful of films - so of which are not on DVD and never shown on TCM. Films of Morrow's that would make excellent viewing are: Blackboard Jungle, God's Little Acre, Men in War, Cimarron, Portrait of a Mobster, The Glass House, Bad News Bears, King Creole, Hell's Five Hours, Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry, California Kid to name a few. At least TCM should have him as a "Summer Under The Stars" showcase for one day in August. Vic Morrow is one of the most underated actors - he was one of the best actors I've ever seen - too bad he never had the appreciation and opportunities he deserved.
  2. I think my vote would have to go to Marlon Brando. He is often regarded on different movie websites as the greatest actor in history, along with Laurence Olivier.
  3. Hands down, I'll take Blackboard Jungle over Rebel Without A Cause. I liked the storyline and acting better in Blackboard Jungle. I liked James Dean in East of Eden. I thought Rebel Without A Cause was an irritating movie - it did nothing for me. I thought Glenn Ford was terrific as "Daddio" and Sydney Poiter was great and Vic Morrow was exceptional in this film as the rotten student. I think Vic Morrow should have been nominated for an award for this film.
  4. Kimpunkrock, what a GREAT list you have. I liked that you included one of my favorites, Vic Morrow, on your list. He's not mentioned very often, but what a great, underated actor. He should have a day devoted to his films on TCM sometime. I also like the idea of James Dean and Marlon Brando "combo day" Here is my list: Lee J. Cobb Vic Morrow James Dean Marlon Brando William Holden Vivien Leigh Joan Crawford Bette Davis Shelley Winters Paul Newman James Cagney Richard Widmark Ralph Meeker Aldo Ray Burt Lancaster Yul Brynner Steve McQueen Glenn Ford Richard Basehart Linda Darnell Joseph Cotton Dana Andrews Charlton Heston Karl Malden Edward G. Robinson Vincent Price James Stewart Frank Sinatra Jerry Lewis Greta Garbo
  5. What a great thread. Has anyone heard of these songs: Playground in my Mind - Clint Holmes Seasons in the Sun - Terry Jacks Rock Me Gently - Andy Kim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnqkaH_EP_o Billy Don't Be A Hero - Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods
  6. I think Michael Jackson should have been included. He wasn't a movie star in the "classic sense", but he did star in The Wiz, and more importantly, he was the greatest singer, entertainer, performer and dancer that ever lived. That, in my opinion, should be enough to include this phenomenal talent in the TCM list.

  8. My choice for Best Actor would be the one and only Marlon Brando.
  9. I like to see some different actors/actresses showcased instead of the same ones they show thoroughout the year. Some of my choices would be: Aldo Ray Ralph Meeker Lee J Cobb Thelma Ritter Rod Steiger Leslie Caron Natalie Wood Richard Basehart James Coburn Vic Morrow Sal Mineo Jerry Lewis/Dean Martin Abbott and Costello
  10. Oh boy, the Jackson youtube links are awesome! This brings back lots of memories. A tear came to my eye watching the young Michael Jackson - he was the most adorable child - with talent far beyond his years. Thanks so much for posting that!
  11. I can't believe the media coverage on Michael Jackson. My personal opinion is that he was a phenomenal entertainer. I liked his music, his videos and his dancing. I think he appealed to all types of people and incorporated different musical genres into his music. I loved his "moon walk" and that Thriller album will always be one of my favorites. He was "odd", but he was one of the cutest kids back in the Jackson 5 days. I think he was one of the greatest musical talents. I hope he gets the peace now that he couldn't get while he was alive.
  12. Brando was gorgeous...my knees go weak looking at him.
  13. After seeing A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE again last night on TCM, for sure Marlon Brando is the most handsome man and actor I've ever seen.
  14. I like the obvious: Marlon Brando, William Holden, Cary Grant, Gregory Peck, William Holden and Paul Newman. But I also like the rugged look like: Steve McQueen, Richard Widmark, Vic Morrow, James Cagney. Some others I thought were handsome but nobody has mentioned: Yul Brynner, Charlton Heston, Burt Lancaster, Michael Landon, Dana Andrews, Joseph Cotton, James Dean, Robert Montgomery, Richard Basehart, Ralph Meeker, Glenn Ford, John Forsythe.....I could go on and on..
  15. I must thank TCM for showing On the Waterfront and East of Eden back-to-back. I love On the Waterfront. I think it is one of the best films ever made. I think Brando was awesome, the way he played the part of Terry Malloy. I don't think many actors can top his performance. I also like East of Eden. I haven't seen it in quite some time and I think this was James Dean's best role. Is anyone else planning to watch these films tonight???
  16. My choices for "worst best pictures" would be: Chariots of Fire Shakespeare in Love Million Dollar Baby Crash The rest of them were probably so bad, I can't remember them or never saw them. On a side note - I noticed some posters mentioned these films: Rocky and Forrest Gump and Titanic. I loved each of these films. Rocky was an excellent film and I generally don't go for boxing films too much. Forrest Gump is outstanding - I can watch that film and never get tired of it. Titanic was also one of my favorite films.
  17. I really don't know who any of the photos are, but I'll take a guess: #2 = Eva Marie Saint #3 = Joan Crawford #4 = Montgomery Clift
  18. Wow, Clint Eastwood looked great in that photo. George O'Brien looks like he's wearing a male adult diaper, and I'd prefer not to see that photo of Rock Hudson. I like the photo of Eleanor Donahue. Wonderful photos on this thread.
  19. What an odd topic....sounds like an interesting film. A bird or duck can pee or poop on one's head as well....
  20. Just saw the movie "THE WILD ONE". This has got to be the dumbest film I've seen. But I must say, Marlon Brando makes it palitable. Brando was the best looking guy I've ever seen. He can make a terrible movie much better by just being in it.
  21. If anyone is interested - here is a link that explains everything that happened. It is a lengthy article. Landis should not have been asked to be a guest programmer - reading the account of what went on and at the trial as well, would make those in favor of him perhaps have a different viewpoint. http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/notorious_murders/not_guilty/twilight_zone/1.html
  22. I didn't watch Landis on TCM last night. Very insensitive to have this person as a guest. I never liked him after what happened to Morrow and the 2 little children. That was the most tragic thing and 3 people were lost due to negligence on that set. They should have played Blackboard Jungle all evening long for Mr. Landis to view.
  23. I looked at the photo of the Morrow sculpture and the website link you provided to view your other work. I salute you, this is fine and exceptional - top notch.
