*Addams Family Values* ! ! ! What a great movie to watch on Thanksgiving Day ! Seriously! ! I loved Wednesday (Christina Ricci) in that!

> {quote:title=ccbaxter wrote:}{quote} > Is that from the Peanuts Thanksgiving show? What's Charlie Brown doing? Yes, it is. Sorry, cc, forgot to carry the picture you were referring to. Charlie Brown has popcorn in his hand; its the Thanksgiving feast he has invited the gang to, only to discover he can only serve popcorn, toast and I think those are jelly beans. Peppermint Patty is ****! Oops; don't know if I can say that. Anyhoo, the dinner does have a happy ending! Happy Thanksgiving; and don't ruin your appetite eating too much popcorn watching football. Jake, Darlin', I know you are not trying to inject politics in here. But you didn't finish telling Poinciana the news.... They are also reviving *Walt Disney* to be Barry Goldwater's running mate! I have a son named Barry, not after the fine Senator. But your Barry would have really liked him. He's in the Air Force, he does is job well, he is forthright and honest in speaking his mind, treats all people with respect, and is a proud liberal and an atheist. If I know Mr. Goldwater, he would've liked and respected him. The Conservatives need Barry back.

That is indeed very good news. It will be a very special Thanksgiving for you and for all us. We give thanks for your friendship. Thank you for being here and sharing. We rejoice with you!

Very interesting, Jake. Very little indeed of original stories out there next year.

Will TCM ever have a medieval night?

John Dean to sit down with Robert Osborne on 11/2

I know it's off topic, but let's keep the internet free. Big Corp interest's is not the individual's interest. -
Jon Stewart makes news watchable! :-) He's better than most the network people. Even the Daily Show commercials are more entertaining!

Yeah, but I wasn't paying attention back in '76-'77. I know some of these guys REALLY like to talk movies, as well. And I wonder if there would be a change in perspective after 30 years, now that we apparently know the identity of Deep Throat and all (casting of Hal Holbrook- I wonder if Woodward had anything to do with that-I fell asleep before the second feature). I didn't say revisionist, just change in perspective... :-) -

I wonder how many real reporters are watching this now!? And if the changes in journalism with the changes in technology have been to the good? -
Too cool! Another reason to visit Vienna... Besides the struedel...

Ya call this an argument! I'll show you an argument: *Greatest figure of the Millenium:* *Martin Luther ranked higher than the Popes.* Why mess with tidy science? I guess I'm just looking forward to seeing "the fam" at Thanksgiving! -
No, always check the water temp first! ! !

Welcome, GRF! I love all of them too, and Jean Arthur is a favorite. Check out *The Devil and Miss Jones*, and *The More the Merrier* - I think you will love them! Do you supplement your TCM watching with Net Flicks or Amazon? Many of us here do. Or we badger the powers that be until they put it on the schedule. Ha, ha!

> {quote:title=newclassicfilmfan wrote:}{quote} > great photos in this thread. Boy, MM had a HUGE butt - probably doesn't even notice a pole seems to be shoved up there - I can't figure that photo out. Now, now; MM has a woman's butt. Appreciate the difference! And, ROFL! that is streamers of sequins below the "frill" at the back of her costume. Everytime I see this type of costuming now, I keep thinking of Rose McGowen's "Chained Melody" number! The One with all those chains! LOL! Somebody please post that again or provide a link.. Its a hoot. Also a candid.

Will George Clooney Be Attacked by 'The Birds'?!

He's so much better than a remake King... I always equated Clooney style more with Cary Grant. -

CC- You did it again! Tres bien! Yes, I see the similarity; the new intro is terrifying! I DO NOT think of Cinema Paradiso! -

> {quote:title=Film_Fatale wrote:}{quote} > Does anyone remember the old morning intro? I thought I'd some day get used to the new one, but it just doesn't work for me, still, and probably never will. I still miss the one with "The Sunny Side of Life". B-) I agree FF; I enjoyed that intro very much. I am a fan of Michael Franks (the Singer; my favorite song of his- Popsicle Toes!) Love the take on Edward Hopper's work in the visuals for some of their intros too. -

> {quote:title=ccbaxter wrote:}{quote} > I love most of TCM's marketing, but not this new prime time open. It's awful. Whereas the previous intro was exciting, magnanimous and even a bit charming in a retro way, the new intro has bland music and a dopey theme. While it's certainly a polished production, it has the manufactured faux-soul of a corporate video for a shareholders' meeting. The old intro made me sit up and ready myself for RO's spiel; this has me cringing in my chair. > > Link to the [New TCM Prime Time Open|http://www.tcm.com/mediaroom/index/?o_cid=mediaroomlink&cid=214160]. Welcome back, cc! You're correct, as usual. The intro is dullsville. I think the marketing people thought that one up, and they are not nearly as clever as the folks at Cooper Sterling ( *Mad Men* ad agency) . Re: bad vibes.... I prefer to commit to watching movies completely, but when the closing credits have a soft rock or lite pop closing theme, I want to retch! Why do they do that?! Where's Ennio Morricone when you need him (he wrote the closing theme for *The Untouchables* ). I would prefer real rock to what is musical pablum. -
> {quote:title=Nando_Morton wrote:}{quote} > CONFESSION!....I read the book! (Ha ha!) And you know what? The kiss on the mountain after the car crash (it happens in Italy in the book) is as chaste as it comes! The two kiss, and then the next day, Charlotte wonders if she had just been dreaming that Jerry kissed her. And then, when they're in a cart or something being rescued, Jerry mentions the kiss, Charlotte makes a joke of it, and Jerry (who is totally American in the book and a bit gauche) says something like; 'Don't, Charlotte! Don't joke about it!' > > But yeah....basically, it's a kiss. Period. I really thought that the book would at least hint that there had been a bit of hanky-panky, but no! (Maybe the reader was supposed to 'imagine more'...but honestly, I'm not sure that this was the case; it's really stated that they 'kissed', and that Charlotte was 'half sleeping' (when Jerry's lips touched hers, or something equally non-sexual). > > So are we meant to infer that poor Charlotte gets NO **** for the rest of her life???? > > (Say it ain't so!) > > (Ha ha!) I can't imagine how they sold books back in the good old days! I've read too many bodice-rippers to think that their relationship would be so chaste. No wonder GWTW out sold it. But I haven't read that one either, so I might be inferring there as well. My goodness, so it was just "a sleepover" . . . . I do not doubt, Nando, that Charlotte does not ever get any **** the rest of her life. Stay out of her way... She's going to need another visit to Cascades...
