...Or, to put it another way...
Is there gravity in spaceships? Of course not. But it's inconvenient to keep the actors floating around the cabin.
Disaster movies have fun making mockery out of logic. I have not seen the Towering Inferno since the 70s. To respond to your previous posts:
-Yes, all those recreational drugs back then gave it's users uncommonly poor fashion sense. Suddenly plastic tulips, ugly wallpaper and shag rugs seemed cool. And there was Avocado green and Harvest Gold in the kitchen.
-The scene with the children is there to create urgency and panic, as if fire raging up a building is lacking in excitement. If the children behaved as if they had sense in their little noggins then the scene would not bring the element of fear to the audience, but a foreshadowing of triumph, which is not what you want in the disaster. Triumph is only for the end...
You're just too smart to be watching this and accepting it at face value, Jonny. But I think when you ask about it is more fun!
I don't blame you for fast-forwarding one bit..

Good Observation, Jonny. Except, besides the San Andreas, there are 5 other major faults in the Bay Area. San Andreas just has the best Promotion people working for it.
As far as remakes are concerned, you would think that with all the real disasters going on, they wouldn't have to revisit the old ones.. I loved 2012 by the way. Only thing that could've made it scarier is to make it an election year....

Back early. Date was not great experience. Nothing to discuss other than the menu. Went to the ladies room to hide. Ordered wrong pasta too. What finished it off was Steve's comment that Haitians suffer because they're poor and that's what poor people do best. No sympathy at all. I apologized that I was not feeling well, (maybe the flu).. Since I did hide in the Ladies room, he thought he should take me back home. Didn't mention anything about calling. I hope he doesn't.
Had some chocolate ice cream when I got home, and now I feel better. I'll arrange a rescue call next time??? I don't know when I'll do that again.. yech. NO, next time it'll be a guy I know!!!

The images are horrible, the situation is horrible and the relief efforts are difficult for there is no governing force in Haiti and very little stable infrastructure. Kerry Sanders' reports on NBC are the best in explaining it. Has anyone here donated through text message yet?

Home early from a date. First date in decades, and I thought about Daniel Powter.

Oh what wonderful choices, cinemafan! I remember people on TV talking about Camelot, and I guess it was a Telephone Hour presentation or something like that. Tough ticket to get, I'm sure.
I was in London and had the sublime honor of hearing Colm Wilkenson singing in Les Miserables. A welsh baritone who can make you swoon with his voice...

>*I think very few people are happy. They wait all their lives for something to happen to them, something great and wonderful. They don't know what it is, but they wait for it. Sometimes it never happens. What they want is a kind of spirit I found in those letters. A spirit that makes life beautiful. I loved that man. I've loved him more than my own life. I still love him. So you see I couldn't have loved Roger Moreland.- the man that I killed.*

I love Trace Adkins and George Strait. Great songs. I would have never appreciated them without your sharing them here with us. Thank you. Your choices here are great.

Kim,
I have been thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers. I know how tragedy can suddenly happen so fast, and life is spiraling out of control.
You are tough person and you are a brave person; I know this by the experiences you've shared. I do believe you will have the will and the strength to get through this. Think on how you've gotten through tough times in the past, and you may find that hidden reserve for this too. That is one of the things I pray for you.
Yes Kim, many people saw your plea, and responded. Because we care for you and we are not without a heart...
Please keep letting us know how you are doing. It helps us to help you.

I always love the posters, Kyle. I'm not sure where you get the images, and I was wondering about it.
Both Bad Bascomb and Big City make a point of featuring Margaret, so it shows her popularity with audience. I haven't seen either movie, now I'm curious.
Lost Angel has a pairing of two of my favorites, James Craig and Marsha Hunt. I loved them together in the Human Comedy as well. I wonder what Margaret thought of her pose? Of course the posters are larger and we can see detail better.
h4. Happy Birthday Margaret.
