  1. Lynn,

You touch my heart. I became a fan of Sam Cooke when his music was featured in a small Minnesota movie titled: The Personals.

It seems so many singers want to honor Sam Cooke in their own way. I followed up with just one song. One I love.

The original is still the best.

I didn't even get to the Animals and Righteous Brothers versions, which were pretty bland.

  4. >*Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life. Well, not small, but valuable. And sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around? I don't really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So good night, dear void...*

Dana Andrews, The Best Years of Our Lives. (1946)

This is a repeat, but it is a great movie!

I have never heard that version. Unusual, to say the least. Has sort of a scruffy production value to it too.

I've been listening to Kingston Trio, and Capitol put them on a higher plane, I guess I would say. The recordings of theirs that survived were all very polished, and nothing like a pick-up band sort of sound. They were very accomplished musicians. My favorite soloist was Bob Shane. John Stewart's gravely voice was wonderfully distinctive. Thanks for the memory, Lynn.

Dealing with a lot lately, will post later..
