Favorite Los Angeles movies?

It's fun to place them. The opening scene of The Glenn Miller Story is near the Angel Flight funicular in downtown.. It's even more fun when you discover character names are the street names in LA. Mr *Gower* (It's a Wonderful Life) is one off the top of my head.. -
Aww, I'm not certain of MM, for Tink's chin is really small... but speaking of a Blonde who can run cool then hot, here's my guy, Joel McCrea: Fondling another blonde, Jean Arthur

One favorite blonde who may not be mentioned, so I do: I'm looking for *Joel McCrea* -- be back shortly...

You do this just to tempt me, don't you? Create an awesome premise for a thread, lay out the the required groundwork for participation, then wait. . . and wait. . . Keep this thread toward the top. I will have your longed-for response.

Sometimes, when we are especially heavy-burdened, it's best to remember that our truth is Truth-- Truth for us, and despite popular beliefs to the contrary, honesty and enlightenment will remain true in the test of time. Depends on the song. You may me having smiling at your service, though I hope for your sake it doesn't occur for a Loooooooong time.

I was not implying sarcasm toward you, Jake. I do appreciate your posts. The loudness I had set my computer alerted the guy upstairs. He turned his music down. My remark is observational, that's all. I do not go looking to find soul mates here. I do not know who Sineaste is. I could not make the same comment you've just made.

What? I just saw a Yarus commercial on TCM!

Someone's going to get their chin hurt with all this knee-jerking. -
Thank you for Ted Nugent. I use it to keep my upstairs neighbor's music at a reasonable sound level. Works like a charm. I appreciate it.

Palm Sunday. I always hear these: I love the this version. This organist knows what he's doing. All Glory Laud and Honor: We will close the service with this.. We all love it. Let There Be Peace on Earth: See you on the other side of this morning. Primosprimos: And which Pink Floyd at your service? Dark Side of the Moon? Another Brick in the Wall? Wish You Were Here?

The anti-CASABLANCA thread
casablancalover replied to JarrodMcDonald's topic in Films and Filmmakers
Okay, here I stand, I can do no other-- paraphrasing Martin Luther. So much of the criticism here is just more of the Gravity in Spaceships thing to me. Casablanca is to me the best example of a great result of the collaborative process in Hollywood. Terrific story, based on a pretty boring stage play (too talky). Complex characters (the protagonists are lovers, her husband, and a corrupt public official) and added colorful characters for interest, and not necessarily for covering all the bases concerning the Third Reich. It is one of the few screenplays whose dialog is still studied after 65 years! Casablanca is the combined efforts of screenwriters on top of their game *(Julius and Phillip Epstein, Howard Koch)*, Director on top of his game *(Michael Curtiz)*, Actors who will become forever identified with their roles in this drama ( *Bogart, Bergman, Henreid, Rains, Veidt*, and so many others), and a Producer on top of his game *(Hal B. Wallis)* and a major studio hitting its high stride *(Warner Bros)*. So, what are you throwing? Story inconsistencies? Welcome to Hollywood, boys, where writer's get together to argue the merits of the admission of evidence and it's believability when it's trial to determine the fate of a ZOMBIE.. that's right, a Zombie. The writer's world is strange, suspend your belief... Why don't you guys go after the other great paragon of Hollywood; the Penultimate- *Dancing with the Stars?* -

"12 Angry Men", guilty or not guilty?
casablancalover replied to FredCDobbs's topic in General Discussions
h4. The writer is not guilty, but the audience may be Take it from a writer. The whole knife thing as evidence -- it's gravity in spaceships. The viewer is to make a leap in seeing the bigger picture. Getting caught up in details that may or may not be borne out in the real world will get you stuck, and will prevent you from actually enjoying the film. jamesjazzguitar- you are not crazy. You get it. Thank you, on behalf of screenwriters everywhere. Edited by: casablancalover on Mar 21, 2010 1:08 PM
