The first installment: Summertime (1955)
In keeping with the theme. A little longer in dialog but a memorable scene.
>Tom Hamilton: *Who gave them permission to live there?*
>
>Osh Popham: *Well, uh, you did.*
>
>Tom Hamilton: *I did? Oh no, I never even heard of them! Why didn't you write?*
>
>*Osh Popham: *Well, I did. I wrote you every week and kept you abreast of everything that was happening.*
>
>Tom Hamilton: *Well, I didn't get any letters.*
>
>Osh Popham: *Well, you see, I never mailed them. I didn't know how you'd take the situation. You see, here were these folks who needed a house, and they fell plum in love with yours, and I let 'em have it. Wrote you all about it. Put 'em up here, where Mariah wasn't likely to be lookin'. Here are the letters, the ones I wrote and the ones Nancy Carey wrote. Hers are on top. I wrote you because Mariah was a-naggin' me. Nancy Carey wrote hers out of a grateful young heart. I hope you'll read hers before you make up your mind what to do.*

Whoa, settle down there, Errol23. Sometimes, she's slow and you just need to take it easy.

I stand corrected. Thanks for setting the record straight. Len Barry's 1-2-3 was one of my favorites, and even if, not a hit in the summer, I always associate the song with summer.
How about peace offering from another Philly guy... Bobby Rydell..

The heroism, devotion to duty, professional skill, and coolness under fire displayed by Captain Derry. . . .under the most difficult conditions, reflect highest credit upon himself and the armed forces of the United States of America. Great scene. Outstanding emotional power with no histrionics.

>*I didn't see much of the war... I was stationed in a repair shop below decks. Oh, I was in plenty of battles, but I never saw a **** or heard a shell coming at me. When we were sunk, all I know is there was a lot of fire and explosions. And I was ordered topsides and overboard. And I was burned. When I came to, I was on a cruiser. My hands were off. After that, I had it easy... That's what I said. They took care of me fine. They trained me to use these things. I can dial telephones, I can drive a car, I can even put nickels in the jukebox. I'm all right, but... well, you see, I've got a girl.*

Thank you, Metairie, for posting that..
That was very good. I am not familiar with it and I am Minnesotan/child of the sixties--so you would think I would have the Dylan songbook committed to memory. Hibbing's proudest prodigy. If I can find my favorite Dylan songs later, I will post it.

>*Paris, France, 1789. Thirty years later, under the reign of Louis XVI, longstanding grievances between aristocrat and peasant were about to boil over. The pot in which these troubles boiled was kindled with the firewood of oppression and injustice and heated by the flames that sucked the air from gasping peasants. Would the pot cool off, would it merely simmer, or would it boil over in the kitchen of France - to stain the floor of history forever?*
