I must admit those rabbit ear shoes were neat). Wait! Are you a dude? You are noticing shoes? Hum, I gotta try this out at some bar sometime. Ask some guy: *Do you like my shoes? Think they're neat?* This time of year, it's the boots.. guys seem to like sleek tall boots. > Well, I'm not a spinster from Akron, so I defer to Kate in this matter. I am not one either. No, make it Triple Chocolate Cake: chocolate with chunks chocolate cake (there's frosting through it) -cake pieces stay softer...

I'd let down my defenses too. After all, *it is Venice* h6. Charlotte is going to enjoy some peppermint ice cream with fudge sauce now. Helen Reddy, Judy Collins, Melissa Manchester. Three women who helped define us after we burned our bras. The last shall be first on her birthday. Melissa Machester. ♥♥♥♥ -Looking Through the Eyes of Love (written by Carole Bayer-Sager and Marvin Hamlisch): ♥♥♥♥ -If This is Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbKIjFCp5jw Note the strong themes of self-responsibility and loving detachment. Melissa doesn't moon over her lovers in these songs. She ain't beggin'- she ain't whining. She is using a mature argument. She can express herself. h5. Historical note: Casablancalover did not burn her bra per se, but she didn't wear one from 1974-1978. Don't believe the old wive's tales. Didn't negatively affect my figure one bit and won more admiring stares! I was HOT back then. Pregnancy changed all that. h6. Thought of a movie quote...

Captain married Tennille this day, 1974. Hum,, don't know if I'd be impressed with a guy trying to score a 2-fer..Wedding/Valentine's Day. Maybe it was her idea. Hope they do twice the celebrating ♥ Love Will Keep Us Together (♥♥♥): As the years roll on, the message of the song means more now.. The Way I Want to Touch You (♥♥♥♥): I had forgotten this one. I really like it. Muskrat Love (0): Really wish I could forget this one. shheesh..

The films of the great Preston Sturges
casablancalover replied to Film_Fatale's topic in Films and Filmmakers
I think there's a lesson to be learned here about creating and collaborating. Sturges' working style didn't seem a good fit for the studio system. I must admit, I've never read a Preston Sturges script. Don't know how it looks on paper. Maybe he was a better director than writer. Even Billy Wilder had help. I can understand serious burn out from wearing both hats. -

I'm sending you my secrets too... ♥♥♥♥! You get my 4♥ rating - my highest! h5. I'm ♥ crazy today!

Excellent point, HGL, thank you. It is something I need to keep in mind. h5. Take the money and run. They're going to ruin your script anyway. ;-) -

The Lady Eve (♥♥♥♥) is excellent, but finally saw Easy Living (♥♥♥), realized I had seen it a long time ago, and not realized it was Preston Sturges. Some may like it, but I thought Easy Living not his best work. He did improve, especially in his character's development. The whole class clash thing is better explored in The Palm Beach Story (♥♥♥♥). Edited by: casablancalover on Feb 14, 2010 2:11 PM- who will start her own rating system on movies she loves ♥! -

Heartache ladies.. There are SO many of them. Their songs make great stories. Brenda Lee recorded this one first, but I am not certain if I like this version best. Bizarre Oscar Nominations Over The Years

h4. Don't Cry for Me, Jonny Don't know why the pic didn't post, but if you got the idea, it wasn't the one of the Quant-inspired stewardesses aboard the PanAm to Lunar base.. It's the early apes.. all actors in full body costume. We could go on and on, you and I, about Evita. Everytime I see it, as good as Madonna is, I keep thinking she put a Bad Karma on the production. Just a feeling I have about it, that's all. Edited by: casablancalover on Feb 11, 2010 10:52 AM, because of commas, it's about, you and I.. -
Happy birthday to Sergio Mendes. His work spans decades, and his style a mix of latin, jazz, and pop is still influential to the likes of Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin and the Black Eyed Peas. Bizarre Oscar Nominations Over The Years

No, the most **** moment in Costume Design and Make-up nominations was the exclusion of 2001 -A Space Odessey... -
h4. I stay away from Information, Please topics . . . . . . because it's crack for me. The thread, *Movie Rambles* is so much fun, but the back reading the thread takes so long to get started. I stick with music and quotes. I'm fearful a thread will start on one of the favorite movies. I only have maybe 60-70 of them.. h5. btw, Good Morning, Everyone!

Oh, Now you're talking my language! If Sprocketman has some stories, all the better! I would be interested to hang out again at the old MGM/now Sony soundstage where the ghost resides... I understand he still makes appearances, usually when there's a shoot, which is ironic for a ghost, no?
