  1. I have been trying to remember the name of a movie I loved as a teenager. I can't even remember the actor/actress' names. It took place during the Civil War and the main charater was a girl that wanted to be a performer like the famous Lola Montez, but her mom was very strict. Her dad was a gambler and lost the house, so she finally set out with her mom to sing in gold mining towns. Her mom was shocked that she did so well. She fell in love with a guy who followed her across the country. He told her mom that he was a gambler, which the mom bought and it explained his interest in her daughter. She cruelly told her daughter, breaking her heart. It turned out that he was the Confederate soldier robbing the Union payroll wagons. He robbed her and her mom, who had been asked to sneak the payroll through. She still loved him and told him she would wait for him in San Fransisco. She went to the only theater that put the performer's names up on the sign and they turned her away. She refused to take no for an answer and barged in to talk to the owner, who was coincidentally playing cards with her father. Her father saw how important it was to her and bet everything he had against the theater. . . and won. She went on to perform there and at the very end reunited with her love. I am really hoping someone can tell me the name of the movie, it is driving me insane!
