  1. If you can provide any details, that would really be of help if you're looking for a specific title. In the meantime, here a few films featuring behind-the-lines sabotage type plots: THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, 1957, with William Holden THE DIRTY DOZEN, 1967, with Lee Marvin (and its sequels) THE GUNS OF NAVARONE, 1961, with Gregory Peck HEROES OF TELEMARK, 1965, with Kirk Douglas OPERATION CROSSBOW, 1965, with George Peppard SABOTAGE AGENT, aka TARTU, 1943, with Robert Donat and just about every episode of "Hogan's Heroes."
  2. I saw what happened here a couple of years ago and I didn't like it. I see what's happening here now and I still don't like it. Speaking from the State of NJ, I vote "yes."
  3. You're welcome. And welcome to the boards.

I disagree. After the first two or three responses, of which mine was one, the OP got nothing but lectures, starting with you, although your first one wasn't as bad as some of the others that followed. > I do resent people thinking their values are somehow superior, though, especially someone w
  5. Jenny, I'd like to second what Catwoman said. You have every right to select role models you feel are appropriate according to your values. And if your values don't correspond to some other peoples' on these boards, that's okay, too. And for the record, I thought your response to those who felt the need to lecture you was mature and very thoughtful as well.
  6. Bud Abbott was in an episode of General Electric Theatre entitled "The Joke's On Me" with Lee Marvin. Lee Marvin was in CAT BALLOU with Jane Fonda. Jane Fonda was in COMING HOME with Jon Voight. Jon Voight was in LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER with (and is the father of) Angelina Jolie. Next: Lupe Velez and Cameron Diaz.
  7. THE SNORKEL, 1958, with Peter van Eyck.
  8. I'm not too sure about those two men being "natural opposites" and enemies, Rich. In fact, a case could be made that the two men actually wanted the same thing (the abolition of slavery) but differed in their methods. And one could also make the case that both men ended up as martyrs for the sake of their goal as well. How about Raymond Massey as a German major in DESPERATE JOURNEY and a captain in the Merchant Marine in ACTION IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC?
  9. IT HAPPENED ON 5TH AVENUE, 1947, with Don DeFore, Ann Harding & Charlie Ruggles.
  10. The first one is the 1963 version of THE OLD DARK HOUSE, with Janette Scott as the blonde and Tom Poston as the "cute detective" (actually a car salesman) who figures things out. Not sure about the second one. I've never been into cannibal movies much, but I will see what I can see about it and if I come up with any likely possibilities, I will get back to you.
  11. How about Walter Huston in NIGHT COURT and THE BEAST OF THE CITY, both from 1932? In the former he plays a judge who's as crooked as they come, and in the latter he plays a police captain of the utmost integrity.
  12. Another good film relating to this topic is 1972's THE OFFENCE, with Sean Connery as a burned out police detective whose job-related frustrations after 20-some years cause him to snap and beat a suspected child-molester to death.
  13. > {quote:title=CineSage_jr wrote:}{quote} > You wouldn't dare tell that to Ray Milland and Rosey Grier. > > Or Hedy Lamarr. That's Hedley Lamarr.
  14. Ethel Barrymore was in DEADLINE USA with Humphrey Bogart. Humphrey Bogart was in THE BIG SLEEP with (and was married to) Lauren Bacall. Lauren Bacall was married to Jason Robards. Jason Robards was in JULIA with Meryl Streep. Next: Richard Burton and Jimmy Dorsey.
  15. In HOLD THAT GHOST, there are no ghosts to be held. In SPOOKS RUN WILD, there are no spooks running wild. In VALLEY OF THE ZOMBIES, although this locale is mentioned, we never see it. In THE VAMPIRE'S GHOST, there is no such creature.
  16. If you're really desperate to see the 1953 version, there are some copies of the OOP VHS release of a few years ago available on e-Bay, and probably elsewhere.
  17. It could be SHOCK WAVES, with Peter Cushing and John Carradine. However, this film is from 1977 and is in color. There's also a movie directed by Jean Rollin from 1981 entitled ZOMBIE LAKE, but in this one the dead German soldiers are thrown into a lake and simply come back "on their own" years later without the aid of any scientist.
  18. It could be VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS, 1965, with Tommy Kirk, Johnny Crawford and Beau Bridges.
  19. Danny Kaye was in THE COURT JESTER, 1955, with Basil Rathbone. Basil Rathbone was in THE BLACK SLEEP, 1956 with John Carradine. John Carradine was in THE SENTINEL, 1977 with Arthur Kennedy. Next: Loretta Young and Christopher Lee.
  20. The best version is from 1945, AND THEN THERE WERE NONE, with Barry Fitzgerald, Walter Huston, Judith Anderson, Roland Young, Louis Hayward and June Duprez, among others.
  21. OK, Scribe55 beat me, so I'll take his: Jack Haley was in HIGHER AND HIGHER, 1943 with Frank Sinatra. Frank Sinatra was in HIGH SOCIETY, 1956 with Grace Kelly. Grace Kelly was in TO CATCH A THIEF, 1955, with Cary Grant. NOW, Marlene Dietrich and Jerry Van Dyke.
  22. Johnny Weissmuller was in WON TON TON, THE DOG WHO SAVED HOLLYWOOD, 1976 with Madeline Kahn. Madeline Kahn was in CITY HEAT, 1984 with Clint Eastwood. Next: Marlene Dietrich and Dick Van Dyke.
  23. Mercedes McCambridge starred with John Ireland in ALL THE KING'S MEN, 1949. John Ireland starred with Robert Mitchum in FAREWELL, MY LOVELY, 1975. Robert Mitchum starred with Sharon Stone in WAR AND REMEMBRANCE, 1988. Next: Maurice Chevalier and Edward G. Robinson.
