at least THAT was an explanation, THIS was just rudely unprofessional and callous.

McCay block was fascinating, if not psychologically disturbing A real shame the Van Beuren shorts were suddenly dropped w/o explanation. It was the more rare historical shorts I was looking forward to. Bad showing on somebody's part.

Wish Mr. Canemaker could've had more time to talk about Winsor McCay. After seeing his work, I'm pretty sure he had some....uh, psychological issues AND a pretty interesting history also. http://www.tcm.com/this-month/article.html?isPreview=&id=1033325|1035102&name=The-Cartoons-of-Winsor-McCay Think a month's Friday Spotlight on Animation would be a great idea!

largely agree w/your orig. post, but recently saw The Last Exorcism (2010) and thought that worked pretty well, at least til the goofy ending.

airs late Sun., 10-5 12:00 am ET 91 min drama Blot, The (1921) Families from opposite ends of the economic scale are drawn together. Dir: Lois Weber Cast: Philip Hubbard , Margaret McWade , Claire Windsor . LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW: D: Lois Weber. Claire Windsor, Louis Calhern, Philip Hubbard, Margaret McWade, Marie Walcamp. "Earnest, humanistic account of economic barriers between the classes, spotlighting the pretty daughter (Windsor) of a grievously underpaid college professor who is courted by three men, including wealthy, spoiled student Calhern. Meanwhile, the professor's wife has trouble with her nouveau riche immigrant neighbors. Overly melodramatic at times, but still a notable work for its long-ignored director."
