Half-way through this year's SUTS-- favorite days so far...?
mr6666 replied to TopBilled's topic in General Discussions
"I didn't feel like Osborne's commentary was needed on Labor Day. The programming did not exactly relate to the holiday." -it was necessary to explain why the shown films related to the Telluride Day tribute. Only wish he'd started earlier to comment on "Russian Ark", which may have been confusing to viewers without any background on the film. (or could've shown the 'how it was made' short) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0Z4bUfUYdw -

http://www.vanityfair.com/vf-hollywood/2014/08/jon-stewart-rosewater-trailer "Last summer, Jon Stewart took a sabbatical from his Daily Show hosting duties to direct his first feature film, Rosewater, starring Gael García Bernal. The drama is based on the experiences of Iranian-born Newsweek journalist Maziar Bahari, who was arrested, imprisoned, and tortured for more than 100 days after Iran’s controversial 2009 presidential election. The imagery from the first trailer is especially haunting considering the journalists who are currently being held hostage in the Middle East." Should TCM split into TCM and TCM Classic?
mr6666 replied to Richard Kimble's topic in General Discussions
as it mentions Turner Broadcasting System CEO Martins as saying “start 2015 a more streamlined, nimble and efficient company focused on driving programming, monetization and innovation," concerning future streamlining, cost-cutting & lay-offs, there seems little possibility of TCM's splitting into 2 channels in the near future. -
