  2. try this:

I see that lots of people hate this movie. I guess I can see why. It's so idiosyncratic, so loose, so out there, so...(director). But this is truly one of the sweetest, gentlest, and most tender movies I have ever seen. This movie can be enjoyed if for no other reason than for its total lack of irony. Like ,,,(title character), it is what it is. And I believe it to be a masterpiece.

    ('80s film)

    ???

Hint, tagline: "Blow me down! It's comink for Chrustmas!"

  3. Tracy is fine as a side kick but like a lot of actors with his type of vibe,  the director needs to use him with restraint.

remember you're seeing a large block of his films, one after another on a tribute day like this, so it's easy to to get tired of his persona.

But back in the day you'd maybe only see one or two a year

    ;)

  4. sorry, forgot this one :(

    this should help:

     LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW:

D: Henry King. Claudette Colbert, John Payne, John Shepperd (Shepperd Strudwick), Ann Todd, Douglas Croft, Jane Seymour, Anne Revere.

"Pleasant, tug-at-your-heartstrings Americana, told in flashback, about the effect teacher Colbert has on a student (Croft, who grows up to be presidential nominee Shepperd). Payne is the fellow teacher with whom Colbert falls in love."
