Sun., 6-29 12:00 AM 78 min silent Woman of Paris, A (1923) In this silent film, when a young woman thinks her fiance has jilted her, she runs off to Paris and a life of sin. Dir: Charles Chaplin Cast: Edna Purviance , Adolphe Menjou , Carl Miller . LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW: D: Charles Chaplin. Edna Purviance, Adolphe Menjou, Carl Miller, Lydia Knott, Charles French. "French girl Purviance is set to marry her sweetheart (Miller), but a misunderstanding causes her to move to Paris, where she becomes the mistress of wealthy Menjou. Chaplin's one attempt to make a serious film (without himself as star) was quite sophisticated for its time, and remains interesting, even moving, today. It was a box-office flop in 1923; Chaplin reedited it, but waited until 1977 to reissue it, with his newly composed music score. Chaplin does a cameo as a railway porter, but he's virtually unrecognizable."

LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW: D: Carol Reed. Celia Johnson, Diana Dors, David Kossoff, Jonathan Ashmore, Brenda De Banzie, Primo Carnera, Sidney Tafler, Lou Jacobi. "Imaginative fable of a poor little London boy (Ashmore) with a vivid imagination; he looks for a unicorn he believes will work miracles, and finds instead a sick, one- horned goat. Script by Wolf Mankowitz, based on his novel."

"Stinkeroo choices if you ask me." gotta agree. "Misfits" & "Baby Doll" are cool, but the rest's a waste. Too bad they couldn't have waited & gotten better choices. (the video was quick though, a much better indicator of his range)

Born to Kill, was that fun or what? Great sleezy characters! So what was the deal with Mrs. Kraft & Laury and Steve & Marty, anyway? and how did Mrs. Kraft get away from Steve on the beach? We know Steve's a psycho, but wasn't Claire Trevor a wonderful cold-hearted stinker!? Great flick!

I doubt any Disney movie, dvd or VHS, would place an ad for any non-Disney studio production. Maybe it was a home or 'bootleg' recording? Without more specifics it's hard to know where to steer you. But you might try this site: http://www.cartoonbrew.com/ they're pretty knowledgeable about animation (foreign & domestic), history & festivals Good hunting!

Just FYI, the way the games usually work, the poster who answers correctly gets the opportunity to pose the next question, unless they bow out and leave the thread open to everyone

Tonight 6-24, under British Oddities (with American Stars): 8:00 pm ET 79 min comedy Thunder In The City (1937) A visiting American engages in a bold business promotion, the likes of which the British have not seen. Dir: Marion Gering Cast: Edward G. Robinson , Luli Deste , Nigel Bruce . LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW: D: Marion Gering. Edward G. Robinson, Luli Deste, Nigel Bruce, Constance Collier, Ralph Richardson, Arthur Wontner. "Amusing film about a go-getting American promoter who visits England and gambles on a long shot: hitherto unknown mineral known as Magnelite, which he proceeds to "ballyhoo.'' Tailor-made for an ebullient Robinson." 11:30 pm ET 88 min adventure Sanders of the River (1935) A British District Officer in Nigeria fights against gun-runners and slavers with the aid of a loyal native chief. Dir: Zoltan Korda Cast: Paul Robeson , Leslie Banks , Nina Mae McKinney . LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW: D: Zoltan Korda. Paul Robeson, Leslie Banks, Nina Mae McKinney, Robert Cochran, Martin Walker. "Dated adventure story (by Edgar Wallace) about river patrol officer maintains interest today, particularly for Robeson's strong presence and African location shooting. A fascinating relic of the sun-never-sets school of British imperialism. Sanders character revived in 1960s' SANDERS (DEATH DRUMS ALONG THE RIVER) and COAST OF SKELETONS."
