Sun. premiere looks pretty good.... 8:00 PM (ET) drama Holly and the Ivy, The (1952) Synopsis: A minister's family torn apart by World War II reunites for the Christmas holidays. Dir: George More O'Ferrall Cast: Ralph Richardson , Celia Johnson , Denholm Elliott . ".... More than many films, The Holly and the Ivy captures the unique experience of adult siblings--who grew up together and shared strong bonds in childhood--now unsure of what is really happening in each other's lives and struggling to reconnect during the one time of year, Christmas, when they are thrown together again... "literate and deftly played by the cast of fine performers." TCM article: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/78205/Holly-and-the-Ivy-The/articles.html -

More Than Half Of The 2019 Oscar-Shortlisted Animated Shorts Are Currently Online Dreamworks Animation released online this morning its two new animated shorts — Bilby and Bird Karma — for a limited period of time. With the online debut of these two Oscar-shortlisted films, more than half of the ten Academy Award-shortlisted animated films are currently available for online viewing. The availability of these films marks a significant strategic shift from recent years when the shortlisted films were almost always kept offline even after the shortlist was announced. The scarcity strategy hurt everybody, especially the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, which was presenting an award for films that almost no one had seen..... https://www.cartoonbrew.com/awards/more-than-half-of-the-2019-oscar-shortlisted-animated-shorts-are-currently-online-168102.html -'BOUT TIME!!!

Anyone seen this......Comments?? ------------------------------------------- airs tonight...... 10:00 PM (ET) Little Women (1994) Synopsis: With their father away at war, the March sister's make the best out of life in 19th-Century New England. Dir: Gillian Armstrong Cast: Winona Ryder , Susan Sarandon , Claire Danes . "..... It is arguably the finest adaptation to date, with a beautifully calibrated sensitivity toward the essence and details of Louisa May Alcott's 1868 novel, even as it injects a bit of modern feminism.... Over the years, it has stayed alive through annual holiday revivals and deservedly worked its way into the hearts of many fans as a family film of the purest sort--honest, buoyant and just sentimental enough to tap into anyone's nostalgia for the exuberances and even pangs of childhood." TCM article: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/81605/Little-Women/articles.html - BTW article wrong here: " Susan Sarandon plays Marmee, a role first made famous by Katharine Hepburn, ..." Even I know Herburn played 'JO' -

Dir: Stuart Heisler Cast: Ellen Drew , Robert Paige , Paul Lukas . LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW: 😧 Stuart Heisler. Ellen Drew, Robert Paige, Paul Lukas, Joseph Calleia, George Zucco, Rod Cameron. "Unusual B film starts off with story of gangsters dragging Drew into life of prostitution, then veers off into horror as Zucco transfers her dead brother's brain into body of a gorilla! on Mon. 12-10, sounds like fun 3:30 PM drama Women in His Life, The (1933) Synopsis: When his ex-wife is murdered, a hard-living lawyer defends the chief suspect. Dir: George B. Seitz Cast: Otto Kruger , Una Merkel , Ben Lyon . LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW: 😧 George B. Seitz. Otto Kruger, Una Merkel, Ben Lyon, Isabel Jewell, Roscoe Karns, Irene Hervey, C. Henry Gordon, Samuel S. Hinds. "Kruger hams it up in fine style as a brilliant, unethical criminal lawyer who drinks and womanizes because his wife ran out on him. When he takes on a murder case and learns the victim is his ex-wife, he cleans up his act and seeks justice. Fairly engrossing MGM programmer with a smashing, nick-of-time finale."
