    - saw  The Manchu Eagle Murder Caper Mystery by chance late Fri

    & actually found it pretty funny :D

    "....As lame as the premise and some of the situations are in this story, many viewers have found it surprisingly funny in the off-beat, over-the-top manner of later spoofs like Airplane! (1980) and The Naked Gun (1988). As Dan Stumpf put it in his "Mystery File" blog, the picture "proceeds merrily on its way to no place special, speeded along by zany characters, neck-snapping non sequiturs, and a shoot-out like something out of Monty Python.

    And it caps off with a surprisingly thoughtful (and quite funny) discourse on the folly of pursuing dreams and why we do it anyway. In all, a rough little gem but one worth seeing."

    “Robin Hood” review: Revisionist history has never been dumber or more boring

    Egerton, Foxx, Mendelsohn are charismatic, but they can’t save this embarrassing train wreck of an origin story

    "This year has seen a (small) handful of movies as bad as Otto Bathurst’s revisionist new “Robin Hood,” but none of them — not “Mile 22” nor “The Happytime Murders” nor even Dinesh D’Souza’s “Death of a Nation” — have been more in denial of their own badness. If nothing else, this accidentally hilarious, goofy train wreck of an origin story most definitely has the courage of its convictions. Alas, the film isn’t smart enough to recognize that its convictions are dumb, and it doesn’t have the goods to back them up in the first place. ...

The not good news is that it will be part of a package of streaming services from WarnerMedia that at present is scheduled to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2019. The company is figuring out a way to make it among several branded-content offerings in its OTT service...........
