Wed. 7-25 for Slavery in Film....... (time ET) 10:15 PM B/W - 100 m TV-PG Tamango (1959) Synopsis: Cast: Dorothy Dandridge , Curt Jurgens , Alex Cressan . see: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/92311/Tamango/articles.html LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW: ? John Berry. Dorothy Dandridge, Curt Jurgens, Jean Servais, Roger Hanin, Guy Mairesse, Alex Cressan. "Stirring historical drama in which newly enslaved black African Cressan stirs revolt while being transported to Cuba aboard a slave ship. Dandridge is excellent in the complex role of a slave who is ship captain Jurgens' mistress. Way ahead of its time, and ripe for rediscovery. Based on a novelette by Prosper Merimee. " ==================================== 2:30 AM B/W - 127 m TV-MA Mandingo (1975) Synopsis: Dir: Richard O. Fleischer Cast: James Mason , Susan George , Perry King . " both reviled and celebrated for its portrait of the horrors of American slavery and its salacious mix of sex and violence since its release in 1975. The story of a brutal, virulently racist Southern slave-owning father and his lame son, who has a more romantic view of the relationship between white slavers and the enslaved black population they buy and sell, plays like a tawdry hothouse melodrama of sadism, sexual exploitation and social outrage, with overheated emotions and despicable acts of degradation on display. ..." see: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/82805/Mandingo/articles.html

didn't realize I was losing my Silent/Import 'fix', til I checked schedule -kinda enjoyed what I saw of the Bernstein tribute (brought back memories of me in kidhood trying to understand them), but if they thought it worth 3 nights, wish they'd left my fav Sun. night alone! Bummer -

Eddie MullerVerified account @EddieMuller 10h10 hours ago A FORTUNATE LIFE. That's what I would have called the autobiography I co-wrote with #TabHunter. Our two-year collaboration was a significant chapter in my life and I thank Tab for being an open, generous and gracious "subject" and friend. Your mater was proud of you, pal. RIP. -
