Most of what I remember. They provide more dialog for the female triangle and character development.

Character development.

Frrom what I saw the concert scene was the biggest cut. Not in the film at all. The rest seemed to be bits trimmed from other scenes, mostly in the first half of the film.

About the scene between Larry and the mortician - Larry says "How do I know you won't come back?" Did he originally think the mortician was somebody who had figured out his scheme and was blackmailing him? That is what it seemed like anyways.
Yes, seemed that way to me too.

Thanks, mr6666. Though it may be valuable to restore the cuts from a historical perspective, I don't see it making it a better movie.
I do.

I miss John Waters. He hasn't made a film in many years. I guess he's retired and living on his Hairspray residuals (the musical) It made him rich. I remember his comments some years ago, that it was hard to come up with material because the public wasn't shocked anymore. He'd become almost mainstream.

BETTE MIDLER has that WEIRD EXPERIMENTAL MUSICAL THEATER NUMBER “OH INDUSTRY!” that has a sort of METROPOLIS look to the set and there is also the set for the OTTO TITSLING number and the FLORIDA DANCE HALL WITH THE FLAMINGOS too!
LOL! I forgot about her musical numbers. Even so I was struck at the time and still am about the nomination.

I remember that store set in Beaches, but nothing else that was noteworthy.......
-
Yeah, New Line was not a Hollywood major and I assume those in the set design field voted for people they knew when they nominated people. Is New Line even still around? I think there were several "Lines" Wasn't there a Fine Line too? I know one went belly up. Didnt Weinstein take over one of them?
I never understood the nomination for Beaches.

This film sounds interesting. I've never seen Dorothy Gish in a sound film. Wonder how big her part is?

This stuff is about as far left as a return to the gold standard.
How about Paleo Pat Buchanan? Yes, Pat can can pretty loony at times, but he is intelligent and
has a broad knowledge of U.S. history and politics. Of course Pat is pretty long in the tooth so
I don't know if he could put up with the grind.
I thought he died a long time ago! He's still alive???

They seem few and far between (judging by Fox News and NewsMax)
And of course, by posters in Off Topics here!

Not a major studio release, probably. If there'd been a best wig and make up category back then, SHOULD have! (not sure when that started)

Speaking of Sandy Eggo...
Judie (that would be my wife) and I are headed there in two weeks from now and to celebrate our 30th anniversary. She grew up in Clairemont, just inland from Mission Bay.
We'll be staying in the Gaslamp Quarter and hope to take in a Padres game at one point.
(...and yeah and before someone else says it here...yeah yeah, she's a saint...for puttin' up with me for that length of time)
She must be!

Some people are still upset about it, apparently.
This was, in my opinion, TCM's most misguided series ever.
And I have a feeling they will attempt it again later, but they'll have to tone down the far-left stuff or else come up with new tricks to sell it to the right.
The biggest problem is that all the hosts are liberals. They would be wise to emulate the successful format of the talk show The View, where there is at least one conservative on the panel for balance so you don't alienate half the audience. But they may be afraid of conservatives that come across intelligently.
There are conservatives that come across as intelligent?

(Good for you, not eating red meat is one of the best things you can do for the environment.)
I do eat seafood sometimes. But, yeah, no land meat since my mid 20s.........I don't really miss it (not into cooking that much) Sometimes I get a yen for a hamburger, but it passes. LOL.

There are many people here who dont care about the show being revived with the same movies shown over and over again on TCM. Different co-host covering the same ground over and over again. If you care, fine. I don't.

Not exactly a premiere BUT... Dancing Sweeties (1930) hasn't aired on TCM since 2005. It's just a B programmer, but it is a taste of that urban look and feel Warner Brothers was going for in its infancy. It stars Grant Withers, who had a rather sad life on the whole, and Sue Carol who was married to Alan Ladd. It's one of my very guilty pleasures.
3-24 9:30AM EST.
Grant Withers was Loretta Young's first husband. Think it was annulled.
