  1. Didnt realize it was today. Long may she live onscreen!
  2. Most of them are B movies until the early morning ones. So dont expect too much. WHY is In Name Only on so early in the morning? You'd think they'd save the B's for that time. King of the Underworld isnt bad.........Some of the others are pretty bad, but if you havent seen them could be fun........
  3. I was disappointed in Burn After Reading as well. Some laughs but not many. Thought the script just wasnt there. I havent seen all their films, but this one definitely is not near the top of the ones I have seen........I dont really like a lot of their mean spirited humor..........
  4. LOL. Sounds like fun! Does anyone appear in any Orry-Kelly knock offs?? I was wrong about King of the Underworld. It's a remake of a Paul Muni film not Edward G Robinson..........
  5. I dont want to give away the plot, but certain parts are similar. The stories though, arent the same....
  6. I do too. She was one of those stars who was more interesting off screen than on. She lived quite a life. Unfortunately there are probably few people alive to interview (aside from children) that worked with her or knew her.......
  7. I'm looking forward to Allotment Wives. I've heard a lot about it over the years but only saw a few mins of the beginning. A good B movie noir I've read.. King of the Underworld, although a B is quite entertaining. I've seen it several times and am planning to watch it again. They put Kay under the title and Bogie over the title to humiliate Kay, but she holds her own with Bogie........Its a remake (with sex change) of an Eddie Robinson film, I think, that I've never seen.....Was one of Kay's last WB films.......... I wouldnt expect too much from Transgression. I found it rather boring
  8. I'm looking forward to seeing Stolen Holiday. I recorded it, but havent watched yet. Who knows when. The remnants of Ike moved through here yesterday and everyone's power is out! I hope it's back up by Thursday!
  9. Oh, I'm sure he will be...........
  10. Too bad Kay never made a color film (at least I dont think so) She had such striking features. Not a classic beauty, but you couldnt take your eyes off her in whatever scene she was in.....She had real screen presence......
  11. I did indeed see the trailer for Milk when I saw Burn After Reading this wknd! (OK, not great.) It looked really good. I'm sure many young people dont know who he is or what happened. I hope the movie lives up to the trailer..............
  12. I thought Kay's character was quite magnanimous considering..... Felt sorry for the poor butler! LOL. Miriam Hopkins got top billing, but I thought Kay stole the movie in the end, even if Miriam got the guy.......... Message was edited by: Hibi
  13. Who watched/recorded what? I watched/recorded Trouble in Paradise and Cynara (had never seen Cynara before). Also recorded Give Me Your Heart and Stolen Holiday (neither which I've seen) for future viewing. I wish I'd recorded Notorious Affair as it looked more interesting than I expected (Kay as a vamp) but could only record so much. The rest I'd either seen before or just didnt have enough time............ Message was edited by: Hibi
  14. I thoroughly enjoyed it. But I still wish Kay had wound up with Herbert Marshall! The cad. Kay's clothes. Did people really dress like that even in Hollywood? LOL.
  15. I havent seen it in awhile, so will be watching. It's supposed to be Lubitsch's favorite of all his films.........
  16. The cigarette scenes DID remind me of Reefer Madness except in Madness, everyone seemed to go insane after a few puffs, while in Robbery after a few puffs everyone had hysteria fits. That must've been some dynamite weed! ****.......
  17. Agree. The few comedies I've seen her in she showed a real flair. I also think the constant emphasis on her lisp iin RO's promos is overdone. It's not that pronounced and I find it charming. I wouldnt have her any other way!
  18. IT IS!!! A shame WB didnt give her more scripts like this. Instead she became queen of the weepies shortly after..........
  19. Must've been some whale bone in there somewhere. LOL. Loved this movie! So much fun. A great vehicle for Kay and William Powell. He was her best co-star at WB.........
  20. It's one of her It's SO bad, it's GOOD movies made at the tail end of her Warner career.....
  21. Who wants to see a film about W? I dont. I passed on Nixon, I'll pass on W...........
  22. I AM! I havent seen it in years. I only have a hazy memory of seeing it years ago. What a trio!
  23. LOL. I wont be watching him (though I've heard of him) Cant have any respect for anyone named Elvis (apologies to any Elvis fans out there) who's a film critic!
