  1. I get confused with all these Manks! Who is the one who has a book out now?? Are they cousins or brothers?
  2. I loved her voice. And she seemed to have a charming, eccentric personality when I saw her on talk shows..........
  3. LOL. How about a thread about the men????
  4. I'm sure they have been locked in by now.........I havent checked the schedule though.......
  5. I always liked Joan Hackett. She always seemed to be on the brink of stardom but never quite made it. Then died so young (think it was just a year or so after her Oscar nomination....)
  6. I wish TCM would make Sylvia a SOTM or at least have a SUTS day. Many of her films still remain unseen on TCM (Paramount again) She wasnt conventionally beautiful, but she had an arresting "look".....
  7. I've also heard that story wasnt true. I dont find the film tedious at all. Strange, over the top, YES. But it's Tennessee Williams! It's amazing the film was made at all considering it was the 1950s (and it made money too! LOL) I find it hilarious it's supposed to take place in the 30s or 40s and Liz is running around in spike heels.... Kate IS mannered, but in this case it works for the character in my view........... 8. Even so, I think it was considered an upset. I think Audrey was the front runner. She had already won the NY Critics Award and the film was up for 9 Oscars, I think, and was a huge hit........
  9. Yeah, but that's why Kay could wear clothes so well. Sleek lines (LOL).........
  10. Yeah, those 3 are the only interesting ones (for me)..........
  11. Yes, I did! Didnt you see my add on later?
  12. LOL. He wears a hairpiece now too......
  13. LOL. Maybe he's filling in? Day deserved it for Love Me, Or Leave Me but didnt get one, so go figure. Pillow Talk was a HUGE hit, so that's probably what factored in. You are right, Kate was more of a supporting part, but they no doubt campaigned for her in the actress category.... Why do you consider it a failure? I find her creepily effective in her monologues......
  14. OK, back to BEAUTIES........
  15. Who could forget that dinner scene! LOL. What else was she nominated for?
  16. I liked the guy who came after John Henson a lot but have forgotten his name. Think it was Hal something. He later starred in the Queer as Folk series.......
  17. HINT: The only film Liz and Kate appeared in together. Are you a film buff or what?? Audrey was a nun........
  18. I'm getting queasy just thinking about it again. Please!
  19. I dont recall all 5 nominees, but I would've given it to Hepburn. She's in every scene in that film and has to carry it. I would've given it to Liz or Kate as well over Signoret............. Hepburn as in Audrey, I mean..... Edited by: Hibi on May 16, 2012 10:00 AM
  20. LOL. I may have to do that. This was the first time I've watched the new Esssentials so I was curious as to what they would say. Good analogy! (Shelley Winters) I also seem to be in the minority that think she didnt deserve the Room at the Top award. (not that I didnt think she was good......)
