Would like to add Jane Greer to the list. She never quite made it as an A list star (thanks to Howard Hughes interest in her, which she had none of!) Good list. I would add Mary Astor too. That Flash Gordon actress looks a lot like Angela Lansbury in that still.......

Vera only made 3 movies? Didnt know that. Everyone was good in the film. But the way RO fawned over Signoret you'd think she walked away with the movie! She didnt. I never saw the re-make (since there would be no surprise, wasnt interested in seeing the story in an American setting. Where was it set???) The 70's tv movie was terrible........ What part did Kathy Bates play in the remake? Was she the detective? Yes, Vera Clouzot was great. I was a bit ticked that RO and Drew fawned over Signoret and didnt mention Vera at ALL except to say she was MARRIED to the director (as if she didnt deserve the part) She outshined Signoret totally in the film........wasnt she in Wages of Fear too? I remember watching the tv movie remake. It was AWFUL (and I think only 90 mins, so much shorter). I think it was set in San Francisco (LOL).........

No, I think it inspired Hitchcock to make VERTIGO (think it was based on a book by the same author...)

I'm not sure any of The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone was filmed in Rome. Maybe some establishing shots. Officials were so outraged by the subject matter (of pimps and prostitutes) they refused to allow the production to film there. I think most of it was done on soundstages elsewhere........

I read it years ago. There was a follow up II book as well. It was interesting. Rehashing old scandals complete with pics. I'm not sure how accurate it was........It didnt go into a lot of details per scandal....
