  1. I dont remember Stella Stevens being in the show. Are you sure? I didnt watch the show it's last season or two, so maybe I missed her. Yes, quite a few people passed through the show. Many younger actors got their start, and many older ones careers got a boost. I remember Lee Grant saying in some interview that Peyton Place was her first west coast job since she was blacklisted in the early 50s. I remember Susan Oliver being in the show for awhile too. They would be listed as "guest stars" meaning they were in town temporarily. (They either ended up being killed off or they just left town or went to jail!) The show was unique in that it never went into reruns during the summer but continously ran. You couldnt possibly do that now. Dont know how they did it then! I remember when Dorothy Malone became ill (she almost died) Lola Albright took over her part for awhile. After 3 or 4 seasons though the show suffered from many of the original actors leaving and just running out of story ideas. I never watched it to the end. Was the show even wrapped up at the end? I'm not sure who was even left then. Was Malone still there? I know Barbara Rush came into town about the time I stopped watching........ 2. I felt the same way. (about the movie) The novel wasnt like that. That movie within a movie part was added by the screenwriter (wasnt it Harold Pinter?) I didnt care for that. Felt he was just calling attention to himself..........(so clever)........
  3. LOL. I guess Helen likes to let it all hang out, or at least did. I heard "Cook" was pretty racy, but I never saw it.....
  4. I only ff'd through the film to see her scene. Unsure of the plot developments. The scene was boring and the nudity thrown in for titillation. She's in bed with Don Stroud smoking a cigarette.......I must say Shelley didnt look bad at all. She must have packed on a ton between Mama and the P. Adventure! (I know it was all for art........) 5. I feel I'm in a distinct minority, but I've never seen Helen Mirren nude, despite her many "appearances" Am I missing anything?
  6. If they had included the scene I'm sure you wouldnt have been able to see anything (being the 50s). They make it clear from Betty and Rodney's conversation that they'll be diving in nude!
  7. That's probably true. He did make some stinkers in there, but I still think he was better known.........
  8. Oh, Brother. They did a sequel to BBM? The original was enough! LOL.
  9. Cable companies paid them off........(LOL)
  10. OMG! The whole Bloody Mama movie is on Youtube. I just saw Varsi's nude scene (topless). I'd forgotten Robert DeNiro and Bruce Dern were in it too (never saw the film)......
  11. Yes. TCM has shown that film but I havent seen it in a long time. I think Kirk Douglas produced it and it kinda got lost in the shuffle. It's odd they both came out so close in time.......
  12. My favorite moments in the film are both Malones'. The first is when she's cutting a rug on the dance floor in that strapless black number, and later when the cops return her home and she's undressing and dancing around her bedroom (while daddy is falling below) Doesnt get much better than this!
  13. ****! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that phallic oil derrick. I'm always in stiches during that ending. Poor Marilee, you'd think she'd have a clue after all those years of never scoring............TCM has shown Big Bad Mama (in the overnight hours) and complete with nude scene. The movie wasnt much (except for that scene!) I too, get those 2 AIP movie titles confused......
  14. Poor Marilee (or however you spell it!) I always have to laugh about the "I love you like a sister" line he says through the movie. Who would turn down this hot, party girl? (Grant Williams didnt!) I always hated Dorothy Malone's stiff hairdo in the film. I bet even the "Wind" couldnt move it! Edited by: Hibi on May 7, 2012 2:27 PM
  15. Could be! (Joanne). The woman (Chris Costner Sizemore) came out with her autobiography in the 1970's called I'm Eve. (which I read) and I think several other books after. I think she's still alive. Her husband stood by her all through those years (Can you imagine never knowing what person you'd come home to?) She even said she was impressed by Woodward's performance...... Edited by: Hibi on May 7, 2012 2:21 PM
  16. That kissing of grandma scene was oversimplified as the cause of her disorder in the film. In reality, there were several events (in addition to that) that were thought to contribute to the disorder (all happening in a brief period in childhood) I think she witnessed a dead body floating in a ditch as well as a gruesome worker injury in a mill. I forget the details now.......
  17. As many times as I've seen this film, I always come away amazed at Joanne's performance. Ironically Chris Sizemore's life did not have a happy ending (at least not then) as depicted. The Jane personality could not cope and started fracturing and she continued to have the personality disorder for years afterward......
  18. She did return to films after a 9 year hiatus, but aside from Robin and Marian, the films werent up to her earlier career standards. I think it was done more for finances than ambition. Her interests lay elsewhere.......
