No need to envy me. LOL.

Well, from what I've read Lawrence wasnt too interested in women..........
-
Absolutely. I was lucky enough to see the 70mm restored version on a big screen back in the 90s. My first and only experience with 70mm. It was jaw dropping........
-
Somehow I knew you'd bring that up.......... I thought the interview was just ok. I thought RO could've roped in O'Toole more as he tended to meander (and he did warn him) I wish they had covered more films in his career......
-
I suspect a lot of the reviews are from people who havent read it, but are outraged by details they've read of it about their favorite stars. I doubt I'll find out much I havent already heard about. I'm not expecting to read literature. The guy apparently has been known for years in Hollywood circles, so it's not like he's come out of nowhere. Wether it's all true or not, who knows?

I have to laugh at all the shocked, scandalized reviews on Amazon. Just WHAT did these people think they were ordering? Amazon's description is upfront about what kind of book this is. I knew just what I was ordering and that's why I ordered it! Wether it's all true or not, I dont know. If I am shocked by the details I will let you all know (havent read it yet! )

Peter O'Toole in L. of A. (sorry dont have a pic to post, but you know!)
-
Liz was a blonde in Hammersmith is Out! (think the exclamation point was part of the title......)
-
What's with all this testing?
-
Apparently. He married 4 or 5 times.......and did father a child!
-
I didnt get censored either!

I bought the book from Amazon, but havent read it yet. Love to read Hollywood dirt! Wether it's all true or not, who knows? Edited by: Hibi on Apr 11, 2012 11:17 AM

Even Doris hated Caprice. One of two films she went on record as hating (I think the other one was Starlift) She wouldnt even promote the movie...........
-
Yes, I remember the film did pretty well (especially at the Music Hall, since of course it was set during the NY blackout...) although reviews werent good. Never thought the film was that much (a great idea sunk by a lackluster script though Day has some funny moments) but I would like to see it again! Dont understand why it sits in limbo......

Yes. I have some of his music also (was curious, once after seeing the movie in the past, so I bought a compilation) It sounds like other jazz music from the 20s. Not really like portrayed in the movie.... But then when you listen to Ruth Etting (I have some of her stuff too), her recordings sound nothing like the music in Love Me or Leave Me..........

The Lesbian subtext in Young Man With A Horn is so subtle I can see some viewers even today not getting it, let alone 50s audiences. I'm sure most people thought the character was just a mixed up dame...... -
Yes, she had a great figure and when the part called for it (and the costumes) could be quite sexy........

STORM WARNING (1950) - KLAN KO'd BY GIPPER & GINGER

Well, I guess Ginger had to mouth off in some way or there'd be no excuse for them to kidnap and whip her into submission. The character had more smarts than that, but story tumps character............. -

Well, I didnt watch much of the film this time, but from talk on the boards she's supposed to be a lesbian. But why does she marry Kirk in the first place then? Very mixed up dame! LOL. I guess she's in the movie to cause Kirk to spiral into the bottle........... -

Wasnt that Juano Hernandez in Young Man With A Horn???. A black actor with a major role in a Doris Day film! So there are some! -
No, I didnt like it. It's hard to find the time to watch films EVERY night of the week........(and if the DVD is full trying to make space.....)

LOL. I think the last time I saw it was on it's network run many years ago. I dont think TCM has ever shown it.......Why should Doris be taken to task for Hollywood's racism? One could single out anyone from that era. What about Debbie Reynolds? LOL........
