According to the credits it was based on some play I never heard of (probably closed on the road!) It did have similarities to Gaslight..........

Yeah, I figured there must've been a splice there. There were several jumps during the movie as if the film had been spliced together..........

I didnt know that. Interesting. I've never understood why the Lazenby film didnt do as well. He wasnt Connery, but he wasnt bad. The film has some great action sequences. I think marrying him off in the film wasnt a good idea (though I loved Diana Rigg)..........Was probably a good idea to ditch Gavin in any case! Yes. I could see the movie being a tough sell in certain parts of the country. Kind of like some of WB's 30's melodramas but with a bit more bite. Interesting that they didnt make the victim in the beginning a black man. Maybe that was just a bit too much for the 50s. Of course finding a local prosecutor like Ronnie in the south willing or interested in taking on the Klan was a hard sell too........

I would've had a hard time buying Crawford standing still for that whipping! LOL. There was nothing wrong with Steve's acting. I just thought he should've played the role heavier rather than a dumb lummox type........ Edited by: Hibi on Apr 5, 2012 3:01 PM

You'd think that would've been a high priority given the circumstances......... Ross Hunter should've paid more attention to script details then the sets and Doris' wardrobe.........
