  1. Didnt you just love his faux English (here today...) English accent?? What I never understand about these phone terror movies, why dont they just IGNORE the phone and dont answer it? And though they talk about getting a private line, she still gets the calls! LOL. Too bad there was no need for Gavin to take his shirt off. Universal never exploited his charms as they should have......... Edited by: Hibi on Apr 5, 2012 11:09 AM
  2. It sort of became one over the years. Oddly, initially, Doris didnt think much of the song, thinking it was just a kiddie song and was surprised when it became a big hit........
  3. Yes, I've seen both versions and I like the 50s version much better........
  4. LOL. What a scene to wake up to!! Dont think Ginger ever had it so bad in any of her films like this! I was chuckling during parts wondering how Joan Crawford would've handled the role (she turned it down telling Jack Warner, no one would believe Doris Day was her sister! LOL) Was a bit of a stretch with Ginger too, with the age difference, but at least they were both blondes...... Yes, very dark. Although much of the movie took place in the dark, the print seemed much darker than it was supposed to be.......
  5. Glad I was finally able to see this (have wanted to for years) Print was not in good shape and I too noticed Ginger Rogers name deleted somehow (splice?). There were several other scenes that had jumps. Pretty good movie overall, though I I was disappointed in Steve Cochran's performance. I was expecting him to be a nasty character (like others he's played) but he just played it stupid. Not much of a role for Doris, and definitely the most atypical of all her films!
  6. Was anyone else watching? I hadnt seen it in years, but it did not disappoint!
  7. Well, she kinda wants to surrender, but something always happens. (Rash the first time, and passes out the second!) LOL.
  8. LOL. And why does he keep trying? You'd think after the first Bermuda trip he'd call it a day. But he goes back for a 2nd fiasco, and then finally winds up marrying her. Only in 60s sex comedies!
  9. Oh, Brother. Count me out too..........
  10. Is it safe to go back to the multiplexes now? I hate these teeny bopper event movies........
  11. That's too bad. That's what confused me.............
  12. Oh. I thought you were mixing them up as Lover ran last night. I wonder what the hitch is with Pillow Talk? I havent seen that on TCM in quite awhile........
  13. Who is June's SOTM? Glad to see TCM is showcasing some new ones ( Howard and Joel M.)
  14. I've noticed that too (her movie career hasnt exactly taken off)...........
  15. You mean Lover Come Back? Some of the jokes in these films have a double meaning/irony when watched now...........
  16. I dont care for Touch of Mink that much (except for Audrey Meadows) as it stretches the virgin joke a bit thin.......
  17. Yes. That's true. They were going to restart the film again. I'm sure they must've had another re-write to fit the role for Doris later..........Guess they didnt want to go into too many details in the intro. I didnt watch it last night as it isnt one of my favs. The original is a lot better.......
  18. I watched it last night and I still laughed.......Yes, it's dated, but the jokes and situations are still funny........
  19. I think Doris was more agreeable to participate in the audio commentary because she didnt have to appear anywhere. Her problem is making public appearances.........
  20. Yeah, but it makes it hard to clear your schedule during the week if you want to watch something (or make space on your dvr) when the star is on every night. I hope this isnt a trend..........
  21. The Private Screenings have become less and less frequent. My point was that there seems to be some sort of qualification to merit a Private Screening as you dont see someone like Joan Leslie being interviewed.........or Anne Francis etc. Someone on that level..........too late for Anne, I'm afraid........
  22. I think that was with Peter Bogdanovich. Ford was being an ornery cuss........ Edited by: Hibi on Apr 3, 2012 4:01 PM
  23. I think he means her audio commentary during her film clips segment...........
