  1. LOL. I doubt Nancy is happy about the news, but Jane does resemble Nancy somewhat now in her hairstyles. As this is a multi-presidential saga tale, I'm sure it will be a small part.......
  2. Not to hijack the thread, but how about it, TCM, Richard Widmark as SOTM! He deserves one (and with more Fox films on the schedule seems possible!)
  3. LOL. They were buddies and birds of a feather (or so I've heard......)
  4. Agree. And there are plenty of other deserving Brits who would be good choices as well.......
  5. I dont think he has been (SOTM) Good choice though. More people need to see his work.....
  6. Yes, a lot of tragedy. Really, all her husbands were bad. Using (or abusing) her. The Melcher marriage lasted a long time, but he squandered her fortune and if he had not died when he did would've bankrupted her........I think the 2nd husband couldn't deal with her career and left, so I guess he wasnt too bad. DD was never lucky in love........
  7. I was able to catch the longer version which is on something I recorded a few nights ago (after a film) last night. That one adds more stills/films and a little more commentary.
  8. Sadly, they are showing Romance on the High Seas at 3AM! WTH? While I didnt expect TCM to show her films in order I would've thought they'd kick off the week with her first film. NOT to be! According to some sources Day will be 90. (she denies this) Edited by: Hibi on Mar 29, 2012 11:37 AM
  9. Oddly, Sentimental Journey is not included in the set. But maybe there were rights issues........ Some other big hits earlier in her career arent either...........I hope Romance on the High Seas will be shown early in the evening. I never get tired of seeing that movie. A piece of fluff, but a very entertaining one....
  10. http://www.amazon.com/With-Smile-And-Song-CD/dp/B0077PHHDE/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1332959171&sr=1-3 I noticed Sony (with TCM tie in) is releasing a 2 CD set compilation of Doris recordings (apparently with Doris' input) while this barely scratches the surface of her hits, it might be of interest to some. (I'm not sure if I'll buy it. If I could find out what the liner notes are and if there are nice pictures, I might...) Is April 3rd Doris' birthday?
  11. Wish I had been home today. Also wish Dirk Bogarde were better known in the U.S..........
  12. "I knew Doris Day before she was a virgin..." - Oscar Levant! (Love Oscar.......)
  13. Where are you going? I hope everything is ok with you?
  14. I was somewhat let down myself. I found the wrestling part of the movie boring. Casting Tierney in a small part set up audiences (me included) to be let down when her charcter never really becomes a part of the story. And what was the point of the Richard Carlson character? To give Gene someone to clinch at the end?
  15. Someone in research asleep at the wheel again...........
  16. LOL. Dont hold your breath on that one. I caught the shorter version (I think?) after Cape Fear last night. Her voice sounds a little throatier, but it was definitely HER! Was great to hear her talking (albeit briefly) again about her career and her sign off was great. I'm sure TCM will be using it again for promos for her films...
  17. While I believe she doesnt like to fly, I think she uses that as an excuse so as not to appear anywhere (as living in Carmel, she'd almost have to fly to appear anywhere) She did fly to Europe after her TV series ended..........
  18. She didnt have a meaty role IN Night and the City! She disappeared for about an hour in the middle of the movie. I actually forgot she was in it for awhile....
  19. Thanks! I cant catch the afternoon version, but I will make sure to see the night version (I was planning on watching Cape Fear again anyway!) I might even have it recorded from last night as I recorded The Pumpkin Eater. I'll check!
  20. Didnt the whole family die of TB? Or just about. I think Charlotte died in chidlbirth......Those moors werent too healthy........
  21. It was Good Morning America, but it was an audio only interview (online) The interview was really disappointing (stupid questions and bad research. They said she came from CLEVELAND, OHIO! LOL)
