That's all you need! (LOL) While watching NBNW yet. That's too bad about The Prince, I hope it can survive somehow........ Did some checking on Cinema Treasures and it was the Midtown. Used to be roadshow house in the 50s and 60s before they twinned it.........is a lot smaller now......... Edited by: Hibi on Mar 13, 2012 5:21 PM

Didnt Dreamgirls rehash the same story (sort of) just a few years ago??
-
****!!!! I love Catherine O'Hara........

The Prince used to be the Milgram didnt it (or Midtown? I get them mixed up) Is it very large? Is the Boyd still functioning? I know all the other center city Philly theaters are gone........

I think Ruth was around 40 by the time of Dodsworth and WB dropped her long before that. I think she returned to the stage and did some stage directing too. I believe she also a pilot.......

Doubt that. Will probably be a drug overdose..........Doesnt Cruise demand 20 million now? (Dont ask me why) What kind of budget is this going to have?
-
No, but I bet I would've enjoyed it!
-
Not much...........
-
LOL. Never say Never. Cruise? ****. The soundtrack will probably do well...........

When the movie (which is full of plot holes) concentrates on Page and Gordon, it's fun. But the other subplots are yawn inducing (Forsyth, Page's relatives etc...) Why didnt Gordon call the police in the first place instead of masquerading??? (I know, then there wouldnt be any movie.........)

DYING. I'm feeling it now!!!!

LOL. I'm easily pleased. I get off on the phoniness of Old Hollywood. Wonder if people really believed that stuff..........

LOL! Joanie drank em all!

Yes. She tugged at the tearducts in a similar titled movie made around the same time. Was it Our Very Own? Where Ann Blyth searches for her real mother.......Not a great movie either, but she aces her scenes.......

I didnt see that one, but I heard it was pretty good, so you're forgiven! -
LOL. That sounds like Bette. I seem to remember a variation of that too. Like having a Coke machine installed on the set. It's probably true...............

Well, it either happened or it didnt. It's hard not to have one. I still watch Joan's movies (LOL) despite my opinions..........

I've always wanted to see that movie. Too bad.

She was DEFINITELY trying to hard in the '60s! (LOL) -
Thanks for all the laughs on this thread. But I have to disagree with most of the comments (Except for the character actresses. Lack of looks kind of goes with that territory) I dont think Lily Tomlin is/was ugly. Or that June or Janet were plain looking (I dont even care much for June) I thought they were cute. Jane Wyman kind of went that way, but was cute in her early career. Mia Farrow was quite pretty in her younger days. But I think she's another one who's gone under the knife a few too many times. I agree about Davis and Stanwyck to a degree (depending on the character they played). I dont think Meryl is plain either. Now Glenn Close, Yes. I guess I can see beauty in almost every face to a degree....... Speaking of going under the knife. Has anyone seen recent pics of Goldie Hawn? I hardly recognized her! I am very disappointed to hear Diane Keaton has gone that route. I thought she'd be the type of person who would be above that. (SIGH).......... Edited by: Hibi on Mar 8, 2012 5:43 PM

You have to remember Joan was the only parent Christina, her brother and sisters ever had. No matter how good or bad the parent might be, it's hard to break that connection. It doesnt surprise me that despite past behavior, Christina or any child would still try to have a relationship with said parent. Christina probably thought there'd be some reward for all of this in Joan's will. But, Joan even had the last word then too. I've no doubt that was the final straw that led to the book............ And if Joan had been alive, no doubt she would have tried to squash the book, and all her friends, press agents et.al. would've been lining up to vilify it and her. So who would believe her? Even after her death, there were many in show business who denounced the book. (and some who backed up some incidents) When there are no witnesses who is going to be believed? A well known movie star beloved by fans or her (supposedly) ungrateful daughter? Edited by: Hibi on Mar 8, 2012 4:39 PM
