  1. I agree, she was great. Funny, relaxed and a pro. I really liked her. I hope she comes back again.......
  2. Didnt see all of it yesterday as I was busy, but I've seen it before. This is one of my fav. Lana Turner films, largely because it isnt a typical Lana Turner film (wonder if it was earmarked for someone else and she was substituted?) It's a stretch to accept her as a model, but once you get over that, I find the film addicting. Downbeat and rather depressing for an MGM product. I know George Cukor didnt care for it, maybe because Lana was in it? Ann Dvorak is great in her small role..........
  3. Is it the Silent Sunday offering? I've seen it before, but wouldnt mind seeing it again........better set the DVR.........
  4. LOL. You'd think someone like that (Maharis) wouldnt need to go to restrooms..........I remember it being in all the papers. I think he plea bargained his way out of it. He was caught in the stall with another guy.......
  5. Ah, Grant Williams. My favorite Shrinking Man! I dont think he was ever married either.........
  6. LOL. We'd need Elaine (doubtful)..........
  7. Yes, I've heard about speculation about Buchanan. Our only bachelor president! (I think) Also regarded as one of the worst!
  8. You might want to check the Cinema Treasures website and check individual Seattle theaters. Sometimes people post in threads what features have played at such and such theater over the years........It's a site devoted to old theaters. I go there sometimes.......
  9. She was in a few good films. Champion (I think?) and Strangers on a Train to name two........ Wasnt she in a film with Pat Neal and Eleanor Parker ? (Havent seen that one......)
  10. OMG. THey are showing it all wknd? Was it on today? No way would I ever watch it on AMC as it is now (not that I want to sit through the film again.........)
  11. LOL. You're just finding out about George Maharis?? He was arrested in a men's restroom back in the 70s.........
  12. I'm sure some of the guys rhapsodizing about Lana or Hedy dont necessarily want to bed them. LOL.
  13. Just curious, did you watch The Misfits on TCM last wknd? I did. I thought of you during the rodeo sequence! Also noticed the scene where Clift lit up while Gable was speaking. LOL.

    CAGED

LOL. I wouldnt go so far as to say she deserved the Oscar over other candidates, but kudos to her for enduring that unflattering buzzcut. Sadly, Eleanor Parker is one of those actresses that isnt well remembered today. I'm sure when she dies she'll receive little coverage and that's too bad. I hope TCM doesnt ignore her. She must be in her late 80s by now......
  15. Agreed. I'm afraid this case will remain one of those Hollywood "mysteries".........
  16. I havent read your url yet, but I'm highly suspicious of peope who come forward 30 years later with "new" recollections about some case. People always want to read something lurid into any Hollywood event. I doubt anything can be proven (evidence-wise) that foul play was involved. My opinion (not that it matters) was that it was an accident. She was intoxicated and slipped and fell. Unless someone was an eyewitness I dont see how anything can be proven.......Guess we'll have to see how it all plays out........ I just read the url. Just as a side note RJ (Wagner) and Lana Wood have not been on good terms for years. He wrote disparagingly about her in his memoirs as a leach and hanger on to Natalie who was always looking for a handout (she wrote a book about Natalie after her death apparently for money). If I remember correctly, after Natalie died she raided Natalie's closets and took all of her furs and wardrobe............ So I would take anything she says with a grain of salt. Of course there are 2 sides to every story....... Edited by: Hibi on Nov 21, 2011 5:09 PM Edited by: Hibi on Nov 21, 2011 5:14 PM
  17. Not to mention her kids. Yeah, no kidding. I'm sure money is involved somehow. I'd sure like to hear just what these new recollections are..........

    Bessie Love

She played a lot of small parts in her later years. I remember seeing her as the telephone operator in Sunday, Bloody, Sunday..........
  19. Thank you. He looks a little like Robert Taylor in profile, but not from the front. I was wondering if I'd seen him in anything, but I dont think so........
  20. Can anyone post a picture of him? What did he look like?
  21. How old is Audrey? Does anyone know? She must be in her mid to late 80s. Sad that all those "dames" are gone. I didnt know that Colleen Gray had died..... Edited by: Hibi on Nov 9, 2011 8:54 AM
  22. I doubt that was an actual rodeo, but they probably had rodeo peformers in the scenes. I would think a complicated sequence like that would have taken several days to film (not to mention pick up shots and close-ups.........)
  23. Monroe and Miller werent divorced when making The Misfits, but they were estranged. I think Marilyn got a quickie divorce shortly after filming was completed (in Mexico?)
  24. I had to laugh in that scene towards the end when Laird and Ladd were walking side by side shown from the back. Laird looked over a foot taller than Ladd (and at least 100lbs heavier!)..........
  25. Yes, They had a round table type discussion with film noir "dames" I wish TCM would run it again. Many who participated have since passed on. I hope Audrey is in good health.........
