-

Romance on the High Seas and April in Paris. (part of TCM's Cruise series in Nov.) If you're a DD fan, be there!

Anyone else noticed morals slipping on TCM ?

Those types of films are shown in the early morning hours anyway...... -
Well, they stopped showing them at midnight. I'm not sure when they started, but I dont think they showed too many of them. There were some good one hour shows, but I find many of them drag in the storyline when seen today. They dont have the "punch" of the half hr shows....... I thought there were more than 3 seasons of the hour length show? One of the best, I think was the very last (or close to it) the one where Dana Wynter played a nurse and there was a nurse killer on the loose. Great show (with a twist! ) Edited by: Hibi on Nov 2, 2011 2:29 PM

Yes, I saw some of the Hitchcock Hours yesterday. They werent some of the better ones. I think the show was better in the half hour format.........
-
OMG! They are showing The Reckless Moment??? I've wanted to see that movie for eons! YIPPEE!
-
LOL. Yes, Troy was a male blonde bombshell! Kind of flatchested tho........

What I'd like to know is who was caring for those animals while he was in prison? It said he only got out Sept. 30th! I dont know if it's true, but I heard police shot the animals and just left them there to die, rather than finishing them off. Horrible............
-
I live in Ohio and this whole thing made me SICK! Seeing all those dead animals laying around. I hope this will lead to new laws and not just lip service..............
-
I THOUGHT THAT WAS HIM! Near the end. I thought maybe I was seeing things as I'd just seen him earlier in the evening. He was just in one scene......... Didnt know he was in Umberto D. I'll look for him next time it's on (hopefully).......
-
Thanks. I thought I saw him in a bit part in Mama Roma, but I'm not sure.........
-
Well, does anyone know if the lead actor starred in other Italian films, or was this a one shot deal?
-
You are kidding, right?
-
Did the guy who played the lead have much of a career in Italian films after this? (I know he was supposed to be a factory worker) He was so good in this. I thought I saw him in a small part in Mama Roma which was shown later, but I'm not sure.........

You're welcome! It seemed like the older man watching the poster being put up was in on it too. Lookout for police? Yeah, I couldnt figure out how much the old geezer really knew. He did give him the address. I've only seen the film twice. Maybe with repeated viewings I'll get more insight. The kid did seem guilty, but was so adamant about being innocent. But if he did steal it, it was probably sold right off......

One thing that has puzzled me. Was the youth the protaganist accuses later in the film of being the thief, really the thief? The theft happens so quickly, I'm not really sure. He looks like him............Maybe I need to freeze the frame next time I watch it.........

I'm sure she must get residuals from syndication and dvd rights......

Yes, I think the reason she stuck with the show so long was because it became a sort of family affair. Angela not only was the star, but she became executive producer and was more or less running the show. Her production company (Corymore) was co-producing the show with Universal. Her son (Anthony Shaw) was directing a good number of episodes and I think her step-son, Peter, was involved with the show somehow on the production and writing end. I think Murder was one of the few shows that improved with age. The scripts became more sophisticated along with Jessica herself. Of course there was always a bit of hokiness and contrivance to the stories (as in any mystery sleuth series) Murder follows Jessica wherever she goes (like Christie's characters), and, of course, she has to get involved because the local police are inept......Cabot Cove must've had the highest per capita murder rate in the world! (LOL)........ Edited by: Hibi on Oct 17, 2011 3:38 PM

Yes, I remember the last several shows were moved back to Sundays. The show dropped from the teens to barely cutting the top 40 on Thursday nights. Still, CBS offered to renew it if they cut the budget. Angela said no....... She had almost ended the show a few seasons before, and decided not to. (they filmed alternated endings as she hadnt decided by the last episode) She probably would have rather left the show on a high note........ Edited by: Hibi on Oct 14, 2011 2:06 PM

Yes, that's true. She hired Madelyn Rhue in a small part as the town librarian. She had MS I believe. (She was in a wheelchair)...
