  1. THANK YOU! LOL. I knew his name, just couldnt remember it. He brought a lot to the show. He wasnt introduced right away and you are right he did a guest shot as another character first (it's weird to see that episode in reruns) CBS moved Cybil into the time slot to attract younger viewers. That lasted one or two seasons and died! Then they went back to an older audience, you are right. So why bother. Murder didnt exactly bomb on Thursdays but it's ratings dropped dramatically against Friends and it wasnt the same. I never watched Friends, but Murder just didnt fit for me on Thursdays and I started to miss episodes. CBS offered to renew the show if the budget was cut (It was a very expensive show to produce) but Angela was so disgusted by that point and told them to take a hike. I cant blame her......
  2. I'd have to say it's a toss up for me between The Letter and All About Eve (the 2 sides of Bette: Flamboyant and restrained. She could do it all...)
  3. LOL. Yes, I enjoyed the Cabot Cove episodes the best. It was Dr. Hazlett (forget the actor's name now, but I'm sure someone will chime in) It WAS a cozy show. It fit in perfectly on Sun nights. Then CBS decided to move it after 11 years in the time slot..........
  4. LOL. I'm happy to say I've never seen any of the sequels or the original since I saw it in theaters. I do like bad movies, but it depends on the type. I'm more fond of 50's drive in movies........
  5. Yes, but they could've given her an honorary award or awarded her one her last season for her body of work on the show. (considering how shabby CBS treated her in the end) SHE was the reason the show succeeded and lasted so long. I read somewhere that she lost a lot of money in bad investments. I dont know if it's true or not (hope not)......
  6. Well, I have seen the expression used both ways and I actually used to use the COULDN'T expression but being a contraction it just sounded like bad grammar. You can correct me all you want, but it wont stop me using it!
  7. I dont think the movie is overrated as I seem to remember the film got mixed to unfavorable reviews when it came out. I didnt have much interest in seeing it but got talked into it because a friend wanted to see it. I found the film more gross than scary. It was a big hit at the boxoffice, but I think a lot of that was the publicity and the book was a best seller so it was already pre-sold. How it got so many nominations looking back is puzzling, but it was probably a soft year for films as most of the 70's was. There were a lot of old timers in Hollywood who disliked the film so The Sting was an easy choice to win and did.......
  8. He certainly doesnt look it or act it. I hate to think of him leaving some day. I'll still watch of course, but it wont be the same........
  9. Chris is very easy on the eyes. He's aging very nicely!
  10. I'm thinking it must have been a fairly serious operation. It's not like he works a 40 hr week like most people. His wraparounds are done in a day I've heard. I know he does other things, but they are taped far in advance. He must've needed a long recuperation time or therapy of some sort........
  11. Tracy looks like he's about to keel over just like his character does. Did he die soon after this? He's almost unrecognizable from his 30s films.......
  12. Yes, some have seen it as an allegory for the blacklist. Some have theorized Emma really had the hots for Vienna! LOL. You can just feel the hatred between those two off the set in their scenes.........
  13. Greatest Story Ever Told is really stretching it. How long was she in that movie? They could've scheduled Mirror Crack'd and Something For Everyone for as long as that movie is..............I hope that's in the early morning hours!
  14. Well, my POINT was present day Hollywood power brokers dont care about her, or she'd get jobs and the honors due her. She had to go to Broadway to get her awards..........(and despite all her tv Emmy nominations, not ONE win!)
  15. LOL. I had a feeling.............
  16. I wasnt in the mood to watch it last night (have seen it many times) I did catch the ending though! LOL. Now where is Jonny Geetar? A very unique western...........
  17. Has Something for Everyone EVER been shown on tv? Maybe pay cable (HBO) I've never seen the film since it's theatrical release in 69. It was rather daring for its time (bi-sexual protaganist), but it wouldnt be a big deal now showing it (dont recall any nudity in it). I dont think it's available on DVD anymore. Wish I could see this film again! Black comedy with a twist and Angela is great in it..........
  18. I'm afraid so. Hollywood could care less about her (Honorary Oscar too......)
  19. GREAT NEWS! Starting the new year off with a bang! Long overdue.
  20. How lucky for you to have had this experience as a child. Monroe, Gable, Huston. They just dont make them like that anymore! There've been several books on the making of the film and I think I've read them all (plus a docu or two...) As for Monroe, I dont consider her a great actress, but what she could do she could do very well. Had she been able to conquer her demons I think she could've gone on to greater things..........
  21. Certainly one of his best. I missed the film this time around, but I've seen it often.......one of my favorites......
  22. THANKS! Can't wait to hear who it is.
  23. Can you say weather it's a male or female?
  24. LOL. That's a long time off. It sounds more like major not minor surgery to me. I hope he's ok. Will be SO GLAD when he returns!
