  1. I see. Thanks. I figured it must be something like that. One of those "special" months. LOL.
  2. I'm not seeing any pattern in the schedule...........
  3. Who now is doing the substitute hosting ?(I havent watched since last week, except for a bit of wknd viewing with Mank) I thought we were done with those hosts?
  4. Yes, she had talent. It's too bad her career didnt amount to much. I guess she concentrated more on her family......
  5. LOL! Plus all the humor. Pat Hitchcock is a riot.........
  6. I think he wore a toupee too. (LOL). Has Boyer ever been SOTM? I dont think so. He should be.
  7. Agree. Edited by: Hibi on Sep 30, 2011 8:54 AM
  8. In response to several posters: Yes, Jonny, I do think Joan deserved her Oscar nomination for this (and I do agree Ida Lupino deserved one also)... I think Joan has gone on record as saying Constant Nymph was her favorite role. I'm not sure if it means her favorite film too. Letter from an Unknown Woman is also one of her favorite films........ I think she pulls off the age thing very well. It's never made clear just exactly how old this character is. I think she could pass for an older teenager (though she does look older than Joyce Reynolds)...... Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea! LOL. I forgot about that one. I wont spoil what happens to Joan in that! Joan said she did that one for the money........ Oh, and I agree the opening part of the film could almost be cut entirely (aside from some tidbits of information that could've been added in later) I wonder if that part was in the play? It's never made quite clear what is wrong with Tessa in the film. There are a couple mentions about "heart lesions" or a lesion on her ventricle? Alexis Smith comments once that it's nothing to worry about. You'd think she would've been under a doctor's care (but, hey, that would spoil the story!) 9. Yes. Cluny Brown does pop up on FMC from time to time. That's how I saw it finally. Why on earth doesnt Fox put this out on DVD?????? IDIOTS! TCM did show it once at Christmas a few years ago, but I forgot to record it..........very much a change of pace for Jennifer Jones (she should have done more comedy) and Boyer is perfect in the part. Plus sexy Helen Walker and a great cast..........
  10. I cant really say why. The story is just so involving. So many great visual set pieces. And of course Robert Walker, one of Hitchcock's most interesting villains...........
  11. I think I saw a preview that said Strangers On A Train is on this wknd? (cant remember exactly when, maybe Sun. afternoon?) I never get tired of watching the film. One of my top five Hitch films.........
  12. Agree. While I think Flynn would've been fine in the role, the last thing WB needed were his rape charges hanging over the film, especially with the underage romance at the forefront! (LOL). I think the main problem with the film is Boyer's character, (not necessarily his acting). It's too sketchily written and we never really get to know him. I think he's very good in the last third of the film and he does have that continental elan that fits the story..........
  13. LOL. Joan claimed Olivia was very mean and bullied her during their childhood........
  14. Wasnt that Eduardo Cianelli? (Robert-O?) I'm sure I didnt spell his name right....... I thought the scoring was just right. Not overly obtrusive like many of Max Steiner's scores......... Camera work was very good too..........
  15. LOL. I missed the bit about Gale Storm.........
  16. I think you mean the other Gail. Forget her name now (My Man Godfrey etc......)
  17. LOL. I forgot that bit of trivia. Yeah, allthough they toned down Ginger's make up, she still wore some. Joan looked more natural............
  18. I believe Joan lives in the Carmel area near San Francisco.........
  19. I hope this isnt a new policy. UGH.
  20. Coburn has always stolen just about any scene he was in. Agree with everyone Lorre was wasted. Was interesting to see Alexis Smith so young and early in her career. Even then she was playing much older women. She even looked older than Fontaine (weather it was make up, hair style or lighting I dont know)...A weakness in the film was what Boyer saw in her in the first place..........
  21. LOL. Nothing funnier than porn titles. I remember there was a Dawson's CRACK when the Dawson's Creek series was on tv.........
  22. Maybe someone flipped the wrong switch or forgot to turn it off (LOL).
  23. Weird they would run it during British Agent. They've shown that a good number of times (and it isnt very good). Hardly a hot ticket bootleg item.............
