  1. I dont think it has anything to do with Lawford being "unmanly". I agree, though after thinking about it, He has as much right to being a SUTS player as Anne Francis........
  2. LOL. It was sad to see what he became in his later years........
  3. So she was one of the Roadhouse gals? OK. I'll have to look for her next time......
  4. That's very true. How many B pictures over time have become more lauded than A pictures which are now forgotten or havent aged well?
  5. While I agree Blondell was a second tier star (more than a supporting player as many of her roles were shared leads or second leads/substantial roles) I dont think that should disqualify her for SOTM. Is her career any less important in the swing of things, than say, Donna Reed, who was SOTM awhile ago? Yes, she did play leads, but how many of those pictures were really that great? I wouldnt mind at all if they created a second night for supporting players or included them as a SOTM once in awhile. People like Claire Trevor and Glenda Farrell had long careers and there would be many films to choose from across a broad spectrum....... And WHEN is MARY ASTOR going to be SOTM???????????
  6. I didnt mean starring in as carrying the picture, she was obviously in supporting roles in many of them (particularly the later ones) but I dont think a supporting player (one who played a lot of second leads) should be disqualified from being SOTM.......... She was in Tree Grows in Brooklyn and I'm not sure about Centennial Summer (may have been something similar in theme.....too lazy to look it up now...........)....... 7. Beats me. But her output was so large, I'm sure she made enough to qualify.........She definitely starred in some As after she left WB in her later career............
  8. Yes, by the early 40s Lana Turner was getting the glamor treatment and roles Joan used to get when younger while Greer Garson inherited the plum dramatic roles that used to go to Shearer.........there was nowhere for Joan to go but out!
  9. Although the people you mentioned have enough movies to be shown, they arent well known and not likely to be picked as SOTMs........Maybe a night tribute or something like that or a SUTS......
  10. LOL. Especially since she was only Joan Tone for 3 or 4 years........
  11. TCM has shown Female on the Beach in the past. I know I've watched it several times. But it's a Universal film, so that's probably why it isnt on much. Entertaining (not always in ways intended).........
  12. I'm surprised they havent done her already. I get tired of the same 2 dozen or so SOTM in constant rotation. Give some others a showcase once in awhile.........
  13. Yes, it's true Joan's younger daughters claim they were not abused, but they also didnt live with Joan during the earlier period when it was just Christina and Christopher........I still enjoy watching Joan (depending on the film)
  14. Agree. Most of her MGM films are junk. Only a handful of good roles. (Shearer and Garbo got most of the good ones...) She gets to wear great clothes and look beautiful, but not much else........
  15. I'm sure supporting players (people like Guy Kibbee etc.) who worked at Warners could wrack up a considerable number of films to their credit if they had long careers. I dont really consider Blondell supporting as her roles were more 2nd leads and often leads too......(not supporting in the character actor/actress sense......)
  16. Blondell had to be near the top. Definitely.
  17. LOL. True! WB really cranked them out.....wonder how the actors got any rest?
  18. It really depends on the star and the amount of movies they made as well as how long the movies were. If it's someone who worked at WB in the 30s, many of their films had short running times, so more movies can be shown......16 is a good ballpark figure. But there have been SOTMS with less. And often more if they made a lot of films.........i think Grace Kelly had the least amount in my memory........
  19. LOL. And she did sing (a little)!! My favorite scene is when Joan ***** slaps Sydney Greenstreet (who looks on the verge of heart attack in every scene he's in......sweating profusely........)
  20. LOL. In our dreams...........
  21. LOL. That goes w/out saying (he drank it). OK. Maybe this winter when I'm snow bound........
  22. LOL. Maybe she was trying to sound like Joanne.......
  23. I wouldnt get my hopes up too high for any appearances, but I'm hoping she will do some interviews to promote the album. The big question is WHEN is it going to be released HERE? You can order it on Amazon, but as an import...........(which I will do).......
