  1. I wanted to see that party Joan went to. I felt left out!
  2. I would've liked it better if it seemed like people left the house once in awhile. Just too stage bound. And if people werent happy with Joan, why didnt they just LEAVE? (LOL) Poor Betsy Palmer. Couldnt she afford her own apt??? I thought Joan did a good job, though the writing was all over the place with her character. Sweet one moment, then monster the next.......
  3. Sorry, but I was just flat out bored with Queen Bee. It hasnt aged well over time. Joan is stuck playing a character with unbelievable mood swings. (Nice this scene; Bitchy next scene) Very stagey and predictable script. Lucy Marlowe was terrible. And this from the guy who helped write Midred Pierce!
  4. What did you think of it? This is one Joan Crawford movie I've always wanted to see. As far as I know, TCM has never shown it, despite it being an MGM movie. I dont know all the legal mumbo jumbo involved. I think it was based on a true story. Would love to see her wearing that dress! Always liked Nils Asther too.....
  5. TCM is preempting its Friday schedule for her films. I wish they'd show them in the evening. Wont be home to watch any..........
  6. Yes, that's true. Apparently Bette and the director (Dymtryk?) were making changes in the script, trying to make it better, Susan found out about it and that ended that. After that they barely spoke to each other...........
  7. God, was she terrible! Did she make any other movies after this? I seem to remember Joan thought she had talent......wasnt observable in this movie!
  8. Did we see the same movie? I usually agree with your assessments, but not on this one. I thought overall it was terrible. I remember seeing it years ago and liking it, but it didnt live up to my expectations (25 or so years later) I cant believe the same guy who wrote Mildred Pierce wrote this turgid mess. The actors did as best as they could..........John Ireland was a little stiff.......(he and Crawford were carrying on during the movie!) Very stagy and predictable soap opera, I thought............ 9. How did I miss that? I had the news on. It seems unless you are Brittney or Paris you aren't deserving of any news coverage these days. Sad.......
  10. Not even a mention on the evening network news! If our local station hadnt run something, I wouldnt even have known. Sad.........Yet Tom Snyder gets a huge mention.......
  11. I also getting bombarded with e-mails and I signed up for the Digest version. I dont know what is going on..........
  12. Wasnt John Ericson supposed to be one of the big boys? I know Joan Crawford went after him........ Sorry, I meant John Ireland...... Message was edited by: Hibi
  13. LOL. Sophia doesnt look too happy. I remember that famous picture of Jayne shoving her boobs in front of Sophia's face How about Marie Windsor? One of my favorite Noir Bad Dames. I think Doris Day was quite voluptous also, though it's rarely mentioned......
  14. I liked him as an actor, but he could be an ornery cuss. Maybe he wasnt feeling well that day. He had emphysema real bad......
  15. I remember the Mitchum interview and it was like pulling teeth to get him to talk more than one sentence about anything. I dont know why he bothered to show up! Luckily Jane helped fill the gaps. I think its the only double interview I've ever seen on there. (I guess that was why!) I dont include the panel discussions they've done.........
  16. Yes, Osborne interviewed Esther Williams some years ago. I think before her book came out. Speaking of books, whatever became of that autobiography Olivia was writing? Will only be published after her death? I wanted to hear her take on her fued with Joan.........among many other things!
  17. I dont know if its just an excuse not to appear anywhere, or its a real fear, but that's what she said about not traveling to DC to accept her award (did they mail it to her?) She claimed it dates back to her big band days and the harrowing flights she was on.
  18. I'd give anything to see Doris again. The last show I saw her in was one of those Biography or ET specials on her career. That must've been a decade or so ago. Yvonne DeCarlo would've been fun too, though she didnt really do anything worth talking about. She was always funny on talk shows.....
  19. Boy, that's rare for a remake (and a B movie remake at that) to be that good. I'll be sure to tape it for viewing some other time.....
  20. Shirley has allready been interviewed. I would love to see Doris, but since the death of her son, I'm afraid she's probably even more reclusive than she has been......
  21. KIM NOVAK! YES! I'd forgotten about her. I'd love to hear her dissing Harry Cohn. They've allready interviewed Debbie Reynolds and Leslie Caron........
  22. Liza really hasnt done enough films to talk about.....I guess she could talk about her days of growing up in Hollywood......
  23. Stingaree, since the other 2 are remakes of last weeks' films I've allready seen. I'll probably record those to view some other time. I'm glad Stingaree is on first.
  24. Few, sad to say. I doubt they could get Jane Wyman or Shirley Temple, but would love to see Maureen O'Hara or Ann Blyth! O'Brien and Withers were on that Child Stars special, so I doubt he would want to interview them again....... > Great thread, but who is really still alive out of > the great classic movie stars? > I'd love to see interviews with.. > > Maureen O'Hara > Margaret O'Brien > Jane Wyman > Ann Blyth > Shirley Temple > Jane Withers > also Gene Tierney, but i am unsure if she is still > with us???
  25. It's nice to know there are still a few survivors from Hollywood's Golden Age. I hope a few will be around for the 80th anniversary!
