I forgot she was in that. What role did she play?
-
I'm sure supporting players (people like Guy Kibbee etc.) who worked at Warners could wrack up a considerable number of films to their credit if they had long careers. I dont really consider Blondell supporting as her roles were more 2nd leads and often leads too......(not supporting in the character actor/actress sense......)
-
Blondell had to be near the top. Definitely.
-
LOL. True! WB really cranked them out.....wonder how the actors got any rest?
-
It really depends on the star and the amount of movies they made as well as how long the movies were. If it's someone who worked at WB in the 30s, many of their films had short running times, so more movies can be shown......16 is a good ballpark figure. But there have been SOTMS with less. And often more if they made a lot of films.........i think Grace Kelly had the least amount in my memory........
-
LOL. And she did sing (a little)!! My favorite scene is when Joan ***** slaps Sydney Greenstreet (who looks on the verge of heart attack in every scene he's in......sweating profusely........)
-
LOL. Eve Black flirted with any man who came within her radar. And she was trying to make points with the doc!
-
LOL. In our dreams...........
-
LOL. That goes w/out saying (he drank it). OK. Maybe this winter when I'm snow bound........
-
LOL. Maybe she was trying to sound like Joanne.......
-
I wouldnt get my hopes up too high for any appearances, but I'm hoping she will do some interviews to promote the album. The big question is WHEN is it going to be released HERE? You can order it on Amazon, but as an import...........(which I will do).......
-
Marigolds was a TCM premiere. Hopefully they will get a few more showings out of it..........
-
Diesel Dagger? LOL. That's a new one. I've heard of Diesel combined with something else.........
-
Thanks for that bit of trivia about Yul. LOL. I've never seen that film......
-
I was mistaken about Stewart Stern writing the screenplay, it was Alvin Sargent who has written his share of screenplays (including Julia and Ordinary People among many others). I wanted to check to see if the movie was REALLY THERE on the DVR last night and wound up watching the credits and a bit of the beginning. Cant wait to watch it again this wknd. Many thanks to TCM for resurrecting this gem so I can have it forever! (and no thanks to FOX for not putting it out on DVD!)

There's some discussion of the movie in the Joanne Woodward thread. I caught it (had seen it many years ago) Agree. Not a good movie. But I'm glad I caught it again for reassessment (wasnt impressed the first time either on tv many years ago) At least this time I saw it in CinemaScope.........
-
Yeah, I knew about Hitch and VisaVision at Paramount, but I never noticed it in the NBNW credits, probably too distracted by Saul Bass' designs during the credits...........

That's interesting. I hadnt noticed that........God knows I've seen NBNW so many times! (thanks to it being on heavy rotation on TCM!)
-
Who did the clothes for Millie? Was it Edith Head? I cant remember.............I think she had moved over to Universal by then...........
-
Yes, that could be. Not many other companies were using Cinemascope at the time (experimenting with other versions) I know MGM used it at times. Seems odd to see it in a UA film.........
-
LOL. Guess he forgot to shave............
-
Wasnt that Irene who did the gowns in Midnight? She designed some lovely clothes over the years. Even designed for some of Doris Day's films in the late 50s/early 60s. Sadly she died a suicide. Not sure why.......
-
LOL. No way (Kay) When in an interview the reporter said Kay was the best dressed actress in films, Kay quipped, No, I'm OVER dressed!
-
Yeah, who knew? I didnt expect this film to even rate a thread, let alone 3 pages! LOL. It's been shown many times..........

Agree. Most of her MGM films are junk. Only a handful of good roles. (Shearer and Garbo got most of the good ones...) She gets to wear great clothes and look beautiful, but not much else........
