Really? Now that's very strange. I cant remember Move Over, Darling being shown. I dont think it's been shown too often.....
-
LOL! I dont remember that part.......
-
I would think the stories behind The BIrds, Marnie and Countess From Hong Kong would be enough to fill the bill. It wouldnt have to be an hr length show. I seem to remember Tippi doing a few outros. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me.......

LOL. Poor Mary. Her boyfriends never seemed to last!
-
YES. She did interact with THAT Clara. LOL.
-
OH, YES! The whole point of the episode was the age difference between them. Then at the end he wound up dumping Mary for another woman. LOL.
It was either in the last season or next to last as Mary was living in the high rise apt set at the time......

Fred, John Huston shot it that way. I think it was only shown in the sepia prints in a few initial engagements. I'm not sure why it was shot that way. Maybe to emphasize the Golden in the title?

That's good to know!

Totally Agree.

I wish the hosts would give that REST a rest! I hope we dont have to endure Ben saying that too every night! (but I fear we will!). Sometimes she did, sometimes she didnt. I didnt catch her every appearance, but it wasnt consistent the times I watched........

It pops up once in a great while. It's one of the least (if not the least) shown of Doris' films for some reason............(not counting the Fox films Doris filmed in the 60s: Caprice, Move Over, Darling etc. which are NEVER shown.......)
Maybe it has something to do with Warner Bros. TCM does not seem to show many WB films from the mid-50s on........

I remember (this must've been in the 60s) my mother mentioning he was a C.O. (apparently one of his movies was on tv at the time) and from her tone, considering it something shameful/cowardly. So even decades later people remembered him in that context.........
-
I remember seeing him in an episode of the Mary Tyler Moore show playing one of her boyfriends........

I didnt realize Unfaithful was supposed to be a remake of The Letter until Tippi mentioned it. A very loose adaptation. Some of the basic plot elements are there, but a lot of plot points were changed. Pretty good (if talky) movie. I thought the stress Sheridan only being married 2 wks a bit much. (obviously to make her adultery more sympathetic to viewers or censors.....)

I cant believe he wasnt nominated for All Quiet On the Western Front. I just assumed he was, but Tippi said his only nomination was for Johnny Belinda. Unreal!

I've never been a big fan of Harper either (though I havent seen the film in a long time) I think the end of double features was the direct result of the phasing out of B movies. You would still see double bills in the 60s, but it was usually to bolster a box office dud or a star reissue or something like that......

I was unaware that Tippi and Melanie dont speak. If true, that's too bad. I think Tippi had other children (unsure how many) Melanie seems to have slipped off the face of the earth (at least as far as movies go) Cant remember the last time she appeared in a film.......
Caught Tippi's intro to Hurricaine last night, She interjected a humorous comparison to The Birds. I think she'd make a great Private Screenings guest, even if she didnt have a big career. Her stories about working with Hitchcock and Chaplin would be more than enough.......
-
LOL. She rose from the dead!
-
Yes. I'd forgotten Please Dont Eat the Daises too
-
That and her age. She was already in her mid-40s by then........
-
Too bad I dont get Cinemax!
-
Only 4??? Seems like it was more than that. It's too bad they didnt use her more. Her and the other old gals would have been hilarious together
-
I saw something about that on the website but hadnt read the full story. It's nice to read about celebrities who use their fame to help others......
Speaking of Frenzy, WHY on the rare times they show it (and it's always late at night) does TCM show a full screen print? I havent seen the film in many years because I refuse to watch it that way. Cant TCM locate ONE wide screen print of this film? Ridiculous!

Thanks. I will have to buy it. I noticed for a 2,000 donation you can tour the preserve, stay overnight (in a tent!) and have dinner with Tippi! If I had the money, I'd do it! (daytime tours are much cheaper) I would love to check out the place some day. I admire her and Doris (Day) so much for all the work they do for animals.......
I didnt realize but she actually lives on the compound! (I assume she has other residences as well?)
