LOL! He really was a worthless SOB in that movie. NO redeeming value whatsoever!
-
YES. I need to check more carefully for typos. What happend to the edit button? Yeah, Wilder said Bogie was an SOB during filming. He didnt even get along with Audrey Hepburn! Some speculated it was because he wasnt Wilder's first choice or he was uncomfortable with the part. I dont think the ending was resolved either until after filming had started (who would get the girl in the end......)
-
I think WIlder's first choice, Cary Grant would've been a perfect Linus. Bogart wasnt bad, but less than ideal casting. Apparently he didnt get along with anyone during the shoot.
Wasnt MacMurray already filming My Three Sons while filming the movie? (I think so) Probably done during his break. I think he did all his scenes all in a row anyway. I can see his fans of the show who saw the movie being very incensed! LOL.

LOL. I actually was not one of the complainers about Jacques Cousteau!

-
Has it been mentioned exactly who is going to be doing them in primetime? Will it change on a weekly basis? Or has RO already taped those?
-
LOL. I guess it makes sense since people are busier in the summer and watch less so TCM wouldnt devote a lot of time to interesting programming. But I dont remember last summer being this bad........
-
LOL. Art imitating life???
-
Me either. Who could top Crawford and Davis? Young people wouldnt be interested in 2 old has been stars anyway.............
-
Nope! I'll have to check him out......
-
Not too well. Summer is quickly becoming a 90 or above season. Before this latest wave is over we'll have had 10 or more days of it. Supposed to hit 98 tomw. By some odd coincidence TCM is really boring this month and isnt helping me take my mind off of it. Thank God SUTS is coming! I have to constantly water all my potted plants..........
-
What I was thinking. Was he one of the guest programmers (viewers/employees?)
-
Yes. The story works better in a 30s setting (though still requires some suspension of disbelief). By the 50's this type of scenario was very dated. But it's the acting of Dunne and Boyer that really puts the movie over (and Maria too)
-
LOL. Maybe he'd have made a "Citizen's Arrest!"
Who would've thought a thread on Mabel Albertson would've grown to 6 pages???
I dont get any of the stations previously mentioned except TvLand. Wish I did! I'd love to watch Dobie Gillis again. I watched it as a child, but I'm sure a lot of it was over my head at the time......

That's an option too. RO will be hard to replace. He was part of the Old Hollywood and had dealings with many of the people connected to the films he presents. (at least from the early 50s on....) I will miss his personal observations. He's allmost the last of his kind........
-
Quite a different role from Gomer Pyle's girlfriend. LOL.
-
I wonder if Ben isnt picked to replace RO if he will leave the network? I enjoy him too, but he has a different style than RO. I wonder if they will want someone more in the RO vein...........
-
So she lives in NYC and not Hollywood? I didnt know that.
-
Agree. The '39 version is much better. But the 50's version is in color and Cinemascope, so that's the one that gets airplay..........
-
Yes. Mabel would've hid Howard's car keys! Yes, that was her. She stole the tapes from him. She had a semi-nude scene too.........(Conversation)........
-
DAMN! I forgot to record this. I havent seen it in years. A campy delight. Joan is so bitchy.
-
Despite it's flaws, I love the movie. And I can never watch the roller skating scene enough! In some ways, I enjoy it more than Singing in the Rain, because technically it had to be a lot more difficult........I can barely skate, let alone dance while skating!
-
Yes, Agree.

Testing. You're right reddriver. Weird!

I think that actress' name was Ellen Macrae or something similar. She was on the Gomer Pyle show as his girlfriend for awhile. She also had a small part in The Conversation movie with Gene Hackman.......Did anyone notice the white go-go boots? LOL. Did dance halls still exist in the 60s???
