I remember seeing the movie trailer as a child, and only have a vague recollection, but I do seem to remember it playing up the "shocking" aspects. But that's typical Hollywood hype........

This was still a hot subject when the remake was filmed. Especially as it involved children and school teachers (15 years or so later it was STILL a hot subject when Anita Bryant went on her crusade) I thought the movie portrayed that aspect very well. Interestingly, Hellman thought the screenplay was too timid and faithful to her play and should have been more hard hitting. (she had to drop out of the project as her companion was in ill health.....)

They broadcast the Goober's contest episode yesterday on TVLand. The one where Floyd wins and Goober cant pay him. Was that Floyd's last appearance? (Fraud!) I noticed they did a lot of close up shots of Floyd's face, which struck me as odd, as they didnt do it with any of the other actors.........

I watched part of the movie again, and repeated the roller skates number several times. One of my favorite solo movie dancing numbers! Amazing.........(along with Fred dancing on the ceiling!)

Yes, Miss Wonderly, I was responding to you. I dont know why I cant respond to an individual anymore, but that icon has disappeared. Anyway, in general I DO separate a person's personal life from their work, but I couldnt in this case. I just felt I'd been had. I also didnt like his arrogant statements during and after the affair justifying his behavior. I just lost all respect for him.
And for those who bring up reasons why Allen technically wasnt doing anything "wrong" why were he and Soon-Yi sneaking around behind Mia's back?

I finally caught Robert Wagner over the wknd. I must say he looks really good! (He must be close to 80 isnt he?) I thought he did a good job.

This is the first week in I cant remember how long where I havent watched TCM at all during primetime. Even wknds! I'm just totally uninterested in the line up! And I'm totally bored with the SOTM! Anyone else bored? I hope next week is an improvement. This wknd looks deadly too (at least at night......)

Helen was very down home looking in the B&W episodes. (sort of how she looked in THE BLOB!) When they switched to color, they cut her hair and glammed her up more

Sorry, didnt meant to hijack this thread with my comments. But I still feel betrayed after all these years.......also if Mia's memoirs are to believed, Allens behavior was suspicious to say the least regarding the child molestation charge (Dylan I believe). No charges were filed, but that doesnt mean nothing happened........

For some reason, I have not been able to respond to an individual when posting for some time. My reaction to it all was personal because Allen held himself up as some sort of paragon of virtue/reason in his films. I realized it was all a sham and could never see him in the same light again. The only way I could "vote" my opinion was at the boxoffice. I do miss his films, but I just wont see them or I should say PAY to see them. To me he's a hypocrite (one of the worst sins in my playbook)
Now someone like Polanski, I have no qualms about seeing his films, despite his personal behavior, because he never held himself up that way..........

I havent paid to see an Allen film since the Soon Yi affair. After that I lost all respect for him. I'll watch them on TCM, since I'm not paying directly into his coffers........I used to be a huge fan.

Is it official RO isnt doing them? Wouldnt he have taped them far in advance? I wonder who then? I'm sure Woodward would decline (she'd be a great interview for Private Screenings and I'm sure she's been asked...). She keeps a very low profile, especially since Paul died..........

Yes, they recycled past episode plots often. (I guess after awhile you run out of plot ideas) I dont know how many time they did the escaped convict with a grudge against Barney one.....
Helen was often unreasonably jealous. If there was ever a new single gal in town, you could bet the plot point would be Helen having a tiff over it. SO predictable! LOL.

Doris wont answer to Doris? But Doris is her real name! I'd say the chances of Doris appearing on TCM (or anywhere) are millions to one unfortunately...........

Yes, I remember Jack Nicholson in those episodes.......They kept Floyd sitting a lot after he returned, I remember. He was a great character........
I guess no one got a haircut after he retired? Or had it cut at home? LOL.

Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing Tippi. Sad to say RO isnt going to last forever, and maybe it's for the good that we get used to seeing him less on the network, rather than a abrupt change. It's possible, like someone said, he may return in a reduced capacity........

Yes, I noticed that cut from Floyd at the door to sitting at Andy's desk. They found ways to get around his infirmity. I'm thinking those close-ups may have fed into that too somehow.........
