  1. She Couldnt Say No? I wanted to record that as I'd never seen it, but as usual my dvr is clogged with movies I still havent watched and there isnt room.

I think Angel Face might be the only film where Jean played an out and out villainess. I havent seen every one of her films, but I cant recall her ever playing someone really nasty except in this one.

  2. Just for the record, Sheridan's tv show (Pistols and Petticoats) wasnt a hit. It ran one season. I vaguely remember the show (a western comedy half hr show) I remember her having to drop out of the show due to illness about midway through. I think she died after it was cancelled not long after. I didnt really know who she was back then. I know she wasnt that old........

  3. Was Jeanne Rochefort the Catharine Spaak character? If so, that doesnt surprise me. She seemed to be shoehorned into the film to provide some sex/love interest.........

I didnt understand that remark Michael Rennie made to Merle about despising her. Seemed at the very least, ungrateful, as she spent the whole film trying to save his *** and even trying to take the blame at the end. Seemed like there was some missing info there that didnt make it into the film......

Someone made the remark that Spaak was 22 when she made the film, but it was her character in the film that was 22. I suspect that Spaak was somewhat older than that. I know that she appeared some years earlier in a European film with Bette Davis called the Empty Canvas.....

Did some checking. As it turns out Catharine Spaak was 32 (or 31) when the film was made, so maybe she needed a little diffusion to pass for a 22 year old.........

Odd that the ending is so different from the novel (considering Hailey got co-writing credit for the screenplay) In the film the hotel is going to be demolished to make way for a skyscraper......

  4. I had never seen the whole movie before and enjoyed it. Yes, it was slow at times (I was bored with most of the Catharine Spaak subplot for instance). But I liked the intrigue and soap opera of it all. Plus Carmen Mcrae singing! (wish there had been more of her) Was that hotel lobby a set? Had really nice production values. I enjoyed seeing Merle Oberon too. (dressed to the nines in every scene) though not her elaborate hairpieces (hate 60's hairdos!) Loved her jewels!

I wonder how different it was from the book? Someone here said they changed things.......I'm sure the tv show was far racier (given the times.......)

  5. Her new release is called My Heart and is supposed to be released in the U.K. in Sept. (no word on the U.S. release yet) It contains unreleased recordings she made from her tv show period. I know Terry sings on one song........I think there may be other unreleased material as well. No word on the box set of songs she picked from her recording career..........

  6. I agree with others, 50 Foot Woman could've been a better film with a better script (even with the Grade Z special effects). It just goes nowhere and ends so abruptly. Why did the spaceman make her a giant? And why did he and Allison walk in slow motion? Why didnt he take her with him? (He didnt look like the type that would attract a normal woman!)

  7. The movie was more visually humorous than verbally (except for I hate dat Qveen!) All those women running around in heels and miniskirts (how convenient they spoke English too!) Except for Zsa Zsa who wore long glamorous gowns!

I think this is the only film that she not only got TOP BILLING but sole OVER THE TITLE BILLING. Though her part is probably smaller than any of the space men......I loved the queen! (or should I say qveen!) :D

I was cackling during the scene in Zsa's laboratory (she does experiments dressed like that???)

  8. I wound up falling asleep during 50 Foot Woman, but I did enjoy Allison Hayes in what I saw of it. I'm glad I recorded it, so will see what I missed this wknd. That cheesy looking hand was hilarious. Even as kid I laughed at that part! So cheap looking. I agree, there wasnt enough of the transformation of her at the end. The movie ends too soon!

You lasted longer during Teen Giants than I did. I turned it off after the first scene. LOL. Looked like a teen beach party movie.......
