Does anyone remember when they did a MST marathon one Thanksgiving? (they may have done others before that, but that's the only one I was aware of) One bad movie after another all day. Heaven! (and the good bad ones-bad scifi and monster movies) That was in the Joel days.....I think I probably caught up on the ones I hadnt seen before that day..........

Egads! Are they showing all 3 on SUTS???? Speaking of Northwest it was on again a few days ago. LOL. (I confess I watched part of it......
) -
No. Maybe Sarah Palin should run?

Speaking of Doris, I just got an e-mail from her website that her new cd is coming out in Sept. in the UK. No word yet on the U.S. release. Isnt exactly recent material, but stuff that's relatively new and culled together. (from her cable show and other sources). It's already ranked 155 on Amazon.Uk.......

Brubeck talked a lot in his and I felt I got to know him. I didnt feel that way with Monk at all, though I enjoyed the music........

Sorry to hijack the thread again. That's amazing. I never realized Robinson was NEVER nominated. Then he gets an honorary one after he died! (Hopefully he was still alive when they announced it. I dont remember). Yes, he did come under McCarthy scrutiny, but it doesnt explain his earlier years. Unbelievable!

He probably split the vote as to what category as he was really a supporting part, but it was large enough to be a leading role. He had some incredibly difficult scenes that he pulls off effortlessly. That one where he rattles off causes of death still amazes me............

The soundtrack (with Harry James) is one of my favorites of Day's recordings. It's too bad they had to tack on a happy ending as the person who they based it on (Bix B.) didnt have one.........

While I agree the evening seemed a running commercial for Clint Eastwood, I didnt mind the documentaries (TCM DOES show them from time to time) At least the first two. Didnt stay up longer than that. Liked the Brubeck one more than Monk........
-
LOL. It seems like jazz night. I'm looking forward to the documentaries.....(the early ones at least).

Just my personal movie preferences. I found the older films more entertaining. The later ones were a bear to sit through sometimes even with commentary. I came in mid-Joel and stayed on. I liked them both........(hosts)

****. I'm amazed he's gone as far in politics as he has with a last name like that........
-
I love Doris in this though she doesnt have much to do. She sings some great songs.....
-
One could say that Stanwyck also has mental issues. At the very least she's a sociopath.....
-
I have to laugh over his last name........
-
I preferred the years when they were doing movies from the 50s and 60s (campier stuff). I started losing interest when they did more contemporary grade z stuff.......

Yes. Agree (D.I. is better). Yes, I'm in the EST zone. Works for me!
. Angel Face has simliarities to Postman Rings Twice too....... -
Oh, I know. I've seen it several times. Similar to Double Indemnity. I hope they show it in primetime. I didnt check the schedule time......
-
They are. I just checked. YIPPEE! Too bad no Hilda Crane. That's one I've never seen and have wanted to for years.........
-
Are they showing Angel Face?
-
I agree Joan is miscast in this. It may have been timely when it was made (McCarthy era) but comes across quaint and sometimes laughable at times.......
-
Yes, I used to watch the show and miss it. It went sort of downhill towards the end (mainly due to the films they were showing) but I stuck it out to the finale. I wish they'd show the reruns.

My Reputation would've been a great part for her and a break from the neurotics and harpies she usually played. I cant picture her playing Mildred Pierce for some reason...

Did anyone watch Dinosaurus last night? How bad was it? I recorded it to watch this wknd....

Although I've seen it umpteen times I did catch part of Black Narcissus again and agree who would flip for David Farrar! I wish they had gone easier on Deborah Kerr's lip gloss and eye liner. Distracts me and a no-no for a nun in those days! It's hard to believe this movie was done in the studio! I didnt catch the other movies though I have seen Great Expectations several times......
LOL. I meant who WOULDNT flip for David Farrar!
