LOL. I was starting to worry about you. Double Indemnity was one of her favorites too......
-
I remember seeing Dinosaurus as a child and being scared. I'm sure I'll have different feelings this time! I remember vividly one scene where a child was riding on the back of a Brontosaurus....
-
Yes, that's true. Studios during the war years had a habit of sitting on films and delaying releases.
Finance, you ARE joking? (Roustabout?) I'm not sure Babs went on record about what was her favorite film, but I dont know. I know she had strong feelings about Stella Dallas, My Reputation and some others.....
-
WHISPER her name..........
-
Surprised you had never heard of this film. It pops up on TCM from time to time, but not as much as some of her other films. It's one of Stanwyck's favorites and mine too. I love the ending and Steiner's score.

Even as a kid I was disappointed in The Killer Shrews. It was obvious they were just dogs with some long hair taped on them. LOL.
-
LOL. Yeah, didnt they try to make it look like Liz sold wigs and wasnt a prostitute when the network first showed it? (I didnt watch it then) Poor Liz. Two back to back Losey duds. Boom is only better in the sense its worse and more entertainly bad. Secret Ceremony is just boring and pretentious.....I would like to see Boom again. I dont think its ever been on DVD (doubt are many requests!)

I have to disagree. There are a lot of days/actors I'm interested in this year. Many stars that they havent done before. I'm glad they are branching out and not showing the same MGM stars like they used to.

Queen of Outer Space with Zsa Zsa? I'll be there! Another "classic" I havent seen in years.....Nothing like a Venusian with a Hungarian accent!
-
Wonderful news! Cant wait. Nothing like Drive In Movies (sadly few Drive Ins exist anymore.....)
-
I hope this is true. I havent seen the film in years and would love to see it again. Love Allison Hayes and the cheesy special effects.
-
I hated it. I watched it for the first time this past winter. I can see why it flopped.........
-
LOL. What a hoot that movie was. (I've seen it several times) Very entertaining (not always in ways intended) Esther does a good job, but she cant save the script. Has her doing some very silly, stupid things. She and George Nader have NO chemistry. (Wonder why?) And isnt that a no-no, romancing someone you're investigating if you're on the police force? LOL.

I hadnt seen the film in years and was surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did when I saw it again a few months ago. Not much really happens, but I was never bored. It had a literate script with some good lines and I didnt think Joan too old for the part. She was an established designer so she'd have to be in the business for awhile. Fonda did have a thankless part and seemed like he couldnt wait for the film to be over.......
-
YES! That's it. I just remember it being and exploitation type film. Just assumed it was AIP.......
-
I finally caught this on Fox too recently. Too much of a bad thing for me, but well acted. Can see why Pacino went on to better things. Wasnt this his first movie? On the other hand Kitty Winn, never had much of a career after. I think she was in The Exorcist, then disappeared from the radar........
-
No, I dont think it was that movie. I seem to remember it being some sort of hippie/drug exploitation film from AIP, that Troy was promoting, but I could be wrong....
Speaking of AIP, I would love to see the AIP exploitation flick Connie did in the 70's called TORCHY. But I doubt it will ever pop up on TCM! (unless on TCM Underground)
-
LOL. I'm sure Garbo would've nixed The Stooges as costars.......
-
UGH. Are they kidding??? Well, at least it's summer. I'll be busy.....
-
I think Garbo was a lot more versatile than she or her studio allowed her to be. She let herself be typecast in period costume roles from Christina on (with few exceptions) which limited her and made her less contemporary with audiences........
When the studio tried to update her image they put her in the half baked 2 Faced Woman........
