Wonder how different her career would have been if she had worked at another studio. All Hughes was interested in was how to display her breasts, not her vehicles.....
-
LOL. I hate any production numbers or tributes they do. They just waste time. Viewers dont care about that. They want to see who wins, who loses and what people are wearing.......
-
That and The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone where she played another nasty character (a female pimp!)
-
The landlady is seen for like a second in the movie and the boarder not at all...........The great Lotte Lenya played her onstage......
-
I would hate to see RO go. I know he gets tongue tied sometimes and makes errors (none this bad that I recall) Who would they get instead??? He's one of the few figures left that has direct links to Hollywood's past and knew or interviewed many of the stars in films TCM shows. He often quotes from his own experiences. He also has a lot of class.........

But what about the romance between the landlady and the Jewish boarder? That was completely cut!
-
LOL. Well, THERE, Yes! (I didnt get the joke at first)
-
DO they? LOL.
-
Interesting. I thought she was. I dont think I watched that year.......

The movie is a lot different than the Broadway show. A lot of the score was cut (or used as background music) as well as several characters. Would love to see a remake, but I doubt it will happen..........I like the musical numbers in the film, but find most of the plot scenes boring..........
-
LOL. Not to me!

Wasnt she up for Bugsy as well? My time is running out comment was referring to her age and the lack of good roles for women in her age bracket. (even Meryl is slowing down......)
-
Mrs. Danvers didnt think so (LOL)
-
Maria O. running? Now that I would like to see! LOL.
-
Robert O. gave it an A- LOL!
-
Jane Russell in 3D. Not that's something to chew on...........
-
She could've saved time on her calling cards and just printed a W before the H........(back in the old days)......

Well, Sam Drucker was the most sane of the local nuts! LOL.

The Emperor's Waltz. It was on last night. I lost interest about half way through........

I think it's next to impossible to produce a good Oscar show as they always want to cram in so many "extras". They want production numbers, salutes etc which only prolong the show. Why cant they just present the awards? Cut the boring chit-chat and just get on with it!
I remember everyone moaning how bad the show was in the 80s one year when Alan Carr produced it (I didnt think it was that bad, but I cant remember much from the show aside from the infamous Rob Lowe duet w/Snow White.....)

I did see 127 Hours. It got very claustrophobic after awhile. Thought it would've been better as an hr documentary.....I agree 10 films is way too many. If they wanted to expand it, they should've made it six or seven. And obviously it's not working (they thought it would boost viewer ratings and it hasnt......)

YES! Bening and Linney. I think Bening has 5 nominations now and no wins.......Time is running out!

LOL! I havent noticed that yet. I'll have to look more closely next viewing (not anytime soon!)

Some really good numbers were cut from the Broadway production (particularly between the landlady and her boarder). I dont think I Dont Care Much was in the film either (sung by the MC?) The movie version centered around Sally Bowles, but in the stage version she was one character in an ensemble cast. I never saw the stage version but I have the original cast CD as well as the revival.....
One thing I dont like about the movie is the implication that the hedonism/amorality going on in Berlin somehow led to Nazism......In reality Berlin was very anti-Nazi and when they took over the hedonism went bye-bye!
